LOCATION: DublinNow, I was in Dublin back in June for a couple days and two places really struck me as extremely interesting: one area in the Christ Church Cathedral (above with the broken statues) and the Trinity College library (below). The former of which I was inexplicably drawn to (and subsequently got the idea for a historical fiction/fantasy novel that I still have to plot out). When no one was near me, I walked right up to it, and almost to touching the centerpiece (I know, I know, I'm a terrible human for wanting to touch a really old statue that I shouldn't touch.) but I didn't because I didn't want anything bad to happen or for me to get caught. I can't really describe it but it was like something was pulling me towards it for some reason. I don't know what or why or how, but it did kind of freak me out and it did captivate me.
Moving on to a happier note, when I was in Trinity College (I did a "college tour" that was more so history stuff than an actual tour of the college...) I was told of a bell that only rings for two occasions: finals and funerals. Those two are very similar to students, are they not? Anyway, later on I ended up in their fabulous library (get this: that is only the old part of the library and they have so many more books and everything!) where I now want to live. Unfortunately I had to leave my personal heaven because my family wanted to go... Oh well I guess my Ravenclaw paradise will have to wait for when I can go back.
There are other fun things to do in Dublin, of course, but quite frankly I know those two experiences will stick with me for a long time. I highly recommend at least going to the college because it's so rich in history, absolutely beautiful, and the library is heaven.
