jaslyn stood in the subway station, waiting for yana and carson. she impatiently tapped her blue fingernails against her arm. she hated being at the station alone, thanks to her fear of the rats that ran around the place, not that having someone with her would make it less likely for a rat to pop up.
a set of hands slammed down onto her shoulders, sending a yelp out her mouth before she whipped around. yana laughed at her before pulling her into a hug, accidentally pulling out her earbuds.
"hey."
"hi, where's carson?"
she point back at the stairs as carson walked down. he waved at the girls as he approached them. "he sprained his ankle and won't use the crutches and refuses to let anybody help him."
jas chuckled as she waved back at him, "typical. how'd he sprain it?"
"role playing," yana laughed as carson finally got off the steps.
"i can hear you, yana. i wasn't just role playing," he hobbled over and stuck himself between the two of them, using them as supports, "it was laser tag."
"oh, that would've been so much fun. why didn't you invite us?" jas asked, raveling up her headphones.
"because the entire night would've been 'oh, car, you suck. why would you convince us do this?', 'jesus, carson, this is so lame,' 'can we leave yet?'"
jas playfully gasped, "we would never!"
"oh, yeah you would. and yana would've complained the most. you'd be complaining to people you didn't even know."
"no i wouldn't."
"well, was it at least fun?"
he scoffed, "it sucked. no one knew how to play, i was killin' people left and right."
"liar." yana muttered.
"no, i'm not, but then there was a group for advanced and i thought i was good enough 'cause you know, i was like an assassin the last one, but it turned out i was a little in over my head going into advanced. that's when i tripped and sprained my ankle in open ground, people just kept shooting me over and over again. it was traumatic."
"your existence is traumatic." yana tease.
"the next time my therapist asks me why i cry myself to sleep, i'm just gonna let him know it's you. it's always been you."
jaslyn frowned at him, "that's actually really sad, carson."
"isn't it?"
yana scoffed loudly, making it echo through the station, "it would be if he actually had a therapist." jaslyn gave him a blank stare and shook her head.
the loud screech of the train nearing a stop at the platform stopped their conversation before they approached the yellow line. the doors creaked open and the three of them stepped in the full subway and grabbed a hold of the pole as someone gave up their spot, surprisingly, for carson.
"so, have you asked anyone to homecoming yet?" jas asked the two of them.
"nope."
"not yet. why? have you?" carson asked as he stretched out his leg.
"not yet, but i'm thinking about it."
"who?"
"peter." she smiled.
"parker?" he asked with raised brows.
"oh my gosh! really?" yana exclaimed, clasping her hands together as the train took off. "what're you gonna wear?"
"let's not get too ahead of ourselves. peter already asked someone to homecoming."
jaslyn's smile immediately dropped, "who?"
"haven't you heard?" he asked with furrowed brows.
"obviously not, so who is it?"
"liz allen. she told me."
yana groaned, "the bitch."
jas shook her head, "stop, she's actually really sweet. so... that's nice for them." she said, trying to not seem hurt.
"i'll punch parker in the di-"
"can we stop talking about it?"
yana pout her bottom lip out, seeing how sad it made her best friend. "oh, baby." she pulled her into a hug. "we can all go together and have a three way slow dance. that'll be fun, we'll be the least lonely people there."
jas laughed at her, "then, people are really gonna think we're in a polyamorous relationship."
the three of them laughed together, "nothing wrong with that." yana chuckled as she pulled back from her.
"screw, penis parker, we'll give you a better night than you'd ever get with him." carson insisted.
"plus, there's like... a hundred other dances you could ask him to."
"that too." he agreed with yana.
"thanks guys. you're the best."
"and this is our stop." carson announced as he attempted to get up on his own. quickly the girls gave him a hand as the train slowed to a stop and he got up throwing an arm over each friend's shoulder.
