Chapter 13

I wake up to a smoky smell and a lot of screaming. I'm not fully awoken so all I see is a blur. I look to see if Heather is sleeping but, she wasn't there. I get off the bed and open my door. All I see is a bunch if smoke, along with flames!

"Hello!" I shout I look at the hallway and run to Adrain's guest room. I bang on the door but no answer. I grab it but it was too hot.

"Julia!" Adrain shouts from down stairs

"Adrain I *cough* can't breath!" I shout struggling for air.

"Come down the stairs Im right here!"

I take a deep breath and make my way to the staircase. I take step by step but I skipped a step and fell on my leg. All I felt was pain and pain, but I looked up and see Adrain trying to pick me up. Then I slowly close my eyes........

I didn't open my eyes but I stared to think about stuff. What happened? Did I dream about the fire? What started it?

"Well Julia open your eyes." I say in my head....

I open my eyes and see Adrain sleeping next to me and my leg in a cast.

"Adrain?" I whisper shout

"Hmm?"

"Wake up it's Julia."

He lifts his head and looks into my eyes.

"Adrain what happened?"

" Heather started a fire....at your house."

"What?! Why?!"

"Well I woke up and went to the kitchen, she was holding a cloth on top of the oven."

I felt tear dwelling up but I still have unanswered questions.

"My leg?" I ask

"You were trying to go down the stairs but you fell."

"Where's my mom?"

"Crap....."

"What's wrong?"

"Your mom was on her way to the house but she was in a car accident.." He says looking down

I look at the ceiling thinking why? Why me? I was happy before I fell asleep now I'm living in a nightmare. Tears fall one by one but then the devil walks through the door. Heather...

"You bitch! I trusted you! My house and mom is gone!" I yelled as tears fall down my cheek

"Calm down Julia the police told me to say sorry and then I'm going away to jail.." Heather says looking at me crying

I shoo her away and turn to Adrain

"Julia your going to be living with me and my mom... Your dad doesn't want you to stay with him."

"I'm not surprised." I say looking away
