I had been standing by the door of my office when Ms. Denora entered, handing me the paperwork I asked her to fill out.
"Thank you, Sir... for all of this. " she gave a slight bow, a gesture showing respect and gratitude here in Japan.
"You are quiet Welcome, Ms. Denora." My voice held little emotion if any at all as I spoke. "Has the moving company arrived at your house yet?"
"Yes sir, they came by early this morning and asked that I come here. They said they'd come by soon and drop things off."
"Alright. Well until then you should go upstairs and look around."
"Yes, sir." She smiled sweetly, her eyes holding their usual curious spark as she left the room.
It was almost sad to see her leave. Although she would only be a single floor above, I realized as the door closed that I would miss the brightness she brought into my office not only with her gentle smile but with her very existence. Kali carried with her an aura of kindness that was rare for me, especially during the past couple of months.
I heard above me the soft sound of her footsteps and gave a half smile, going back to my desk and opening my laptop, opening a new document and beginning to type. Not only had Kali managed to brighten my monotonous life with her pure spirit, she also brought with her the greatest inspiration I had ever found. It was because of her that I now had what I considered to be a fantastic idea for my newest novel.
Entranced by the sound of my keyboard and lost in the world in was creating, it wasn't until several loud knocks on the front door that I finally noticed the arrival of the moving crew.
I stood, holding the door open as they carried Kali's belongings into the house and up to the second floor. Once the last box had been brought in and the moving crew had driven away, I made my way upstairs in hopes of speaking to Ms. Denora.
The first place I checked was her new bedroom, and I was happy to find her there. She had already begun to unpack her things.
I silently watched through the open door as she lifted various articles of clothing from a box, putting some on hangers in the closet and folding others, placing them neatly in the dresser drawers. After a few moments, I decided it best to make my presence known by knocking softly on the doorframe. She visibly tensed up, startled, but relaxed once she saw me.
"did everything arrive safely, Ms. Denora?" I stepped into the room as I spoke, looking around.
The walls were a light shade of grey with white baseboards and soft beige carpet. There was a queen size bed against the wall on the opposite side of the room from the large, walk-in closet. On the bed were soft, jade green sheets and multiple pillows, some decorative and others meant to actually be slept on.
"yes, everything is here and, as far as I've seen, nothing is broken." She gave a cheerful smile.
"Would you like some help unpacking?" In all honesty, I had no desire to rummage through someone else's belongings, or organize them to that matter. However, the thought of spending more time with her outweighed my dislike for such tasks.
"If you wouldn't mind, I'd love the help." She glanced over at me and I gave a nod.
"Alright." I opened a box and began removing framed photographs, folded posters, and other similar things. I glanced around the room and did my best at following her style of organization as I hung the posters and photos.
It was around eleven at night when we both decided to stop for the day. We can unpacked all but one box, having spent the majority of our time organizing the room and making things look nice.
"Are you hungry?" I looked over at her. "I hate to brag, but I do consider myself to be rather good in the kitchen."
Kali smiled. "food sounds amazing right now." She giggled.
"Alright, well then I'll head to the kitchen and I'll cone get you once dinner is ready."
"Alright." She looked up from the books she was holding. "Oh, an Mr. Ariel, thank you again for everything."
" You're quite welcome, Ms. Denora." I turned towards the door, glancing back at the beautiful girl one more time before walking downstairs and into the kitchen.
As I began to prepare our dinner, a smile came to my face. So far, my plan was working perfectly. I could only hope things would continue on as perfectly as they were now.
