Nate's POV
Beep! Beep! Beep!
"Ugh," I groaned as I hit the snooze bar. My extra 10 minutes didn't last that long.
I walked like a zombie to the bathroom. I combed my blonde hair and washed my face then I got dressed and went downstairs.
"Hey Nate," Mom said. The aroma of bacon filled the air.
"Smells good Mom," I said and she smiled.
"Good, because even if you didn't like it, I'd still make you eat it because breakfast is the most important meal of the day."
I laughed as I poured myself a glass of orange juice. I loaded up my plate with eggs and bacon and scarfed it all down, and then chugged my juice.
My mom looked at me, her eyes fined with amusement. "Did you even taste that?" She said. I shrugged and pulled my backpack over my shoulder.
"Bye Mom!"
"Bye Nate."

I walked into my advanced math class and set my stuff down on my desk. I started to read my book, finding myself lost in the world of Katniss and Peeta.
Ring!
I set my book down as our teacher began to talk and started to take notes.
Suddenly, a girl walked in. She had bright red hair and deep blue eyes. She wore ripped jeans and a leather jacket.
"Peyton Russell?" The teacher demanded, "Why are you late?" The girl shrugged and plopped her books down on the desk next to mine.
"Don't let it happen again." The teacher said and Peyton rolled her eyes. I almost chuckled. Who was this girl?
I took notes and I noticed that Peyton was A.D.D. She clicked her pen, tapped it on the desk, and did everything she could to drive the teacher insane.
She was bold, daring, but yet so fragile, delicate. There wasn't much I couldn't figure out, yet I couldn't seem to get her.
She seemed like she didn't care, but yet somehow she was in this advanced class. It was her first day to. She wasn't paying attention but whenever the teacher called on her, she knew the answer.
I was determined to figure out this Peyton Russell.

"How was your day?" Mom asked.
"Ehh," I responded. "It was school."
Mom rolled her eyes. "Gee, Nate. You're so enthusiastic." I laughed.
"What did you expect, Mom, me to waltz in here and just be like 'Oh, school was awesome yay learning!'"
Mom gave a halfhearted smile. "Nate, I have bad news."
