Wind rushed across the moor and the grass swayed as Leafpool and Crowfeather bounded through the grass. As Leafpool was running, she remembered what had happened moments ago.

"Your clan needs you more than ever," a strange badger named Midnight had told her.
Leafpool looked at Midnight, confusion and worry clouding her green gaze.
"What do you mean? Is somebody hurt?"
"Not yet, but a herd of badgers are heading toward the ThunderClan camp right now. They are there to kill," Midnight explained ominously.
"Really?" Leafpool exclaimed. "I need to get back. It's my duty."
She took a few steps forward, but Crowfeather cut her off.
"Leafpool. Do you really want to go back to them? Do you know what they'll think when we show up together? A WindClan tom and a ThunderClan she-cat?" Crowfeather pleaded. "They'll just throw us out. Exile us."
Leafpool looked in the direction of the lake and then turned her head towards Crowfeather.
"You are right. If we returned to the Clans, we wouldn't be able to raise our kits together. I would keep them and they wouldn't have a father. But if we run away, we can raise them together, without having other cats judging our relationship," Leafpool countered. "I love you Crowfeather. You're my everything. Being with you is all that matters."

The sun began to set as Leafpool and Crowfeather slowed to a walk. They had been running all day and were tired and hungry. The edge of a forest loomed in front of them.
"Do you want to hunt?" Crowfeather asked. "I'm famished."
"I would love to help, but I don't know how to hunt. Since I am, was, a medicine cat, I never learned to hunt. I only learned basic battle moves and how to gather herbs," Leafpool meowed.
Crowfeather looked around, trying to find something Leafpool could help with.
"That's okay. You can find a source of fresh water while I catch us some fresh kill."
Leafpool looked at her paws, feeling useless.
"Okay. I thought I saw a stream over that hill," Leafpool agreed.
She turned to find the stream but Crowfeather interrupted her.
"I could teach you."
Leafpool turned.
"What?"
"I could teach you how to hunt. Not the way ThunderClan did, but the way WindClan did. On the moors, chasing rabbits. Its exhilarating," Crowfeather meowed.
Leafpool's eyes brightened.
"I would love that!" Leafpool exclaimed.

Crowfeather led Leafpool onto the open moor. Their pelts brushed as they strolled side by side through the grass. They stopped at the top of a hill, where they could see rolling hills of land.
Crowfeather ducked down and lifted his nose in the air, sniffing for prey. Leafpool did the same. Suddenly Crowfeather took off, bounding across the moor after a stray rabbit. He chased it for a few moments, but when he came in close proximity to it, he lunged and rolled on top of it.
He grabbed it and then made the killing bite. Leafpool wasn't far behind, but she arrived shook and out of breath.
"Wow, you're fast!" Leafpool meowed.
