March 15, 566 P.G.

Wilson entered into Mark's small office, he just came from the capital after a five hour horse-ride. He had bad news, and he hopes that Mark  wouldn't do something that will put him in danger.

" Wilson, welcome back," Mark greeted him," Any good news?"

" I'm afraid not brother," Wilson answered," Jake will be hanged tomorrow afternoon."

" Jake?! Hanged?! For what? For stealing a god damn apple!" Mark shouted," What am I supposed to tell his mother? That you not only lost your husband this month, but you will also lose your only son!"

" Mark, stay calm. I was as shocked and angry as you were when I heard about that. Anger won't help him in any way. You need to stay calm."

Mark took a deep breath," Yeah. I suppose I have to tell Samantha about...Jake. You should go rest. After all, the trip to Crimsal isn't easy."

" Tell me if you need anything."

Mark nodded and left to the Rems' house. Telling Samantha about this is probably the hardest thing he'll ever do in his life. Jake was like a brother to him, they grew up together and had the same views about the injustices that is happening in Triston and the whole country. If only Jake didn't steal the apple from that rich Crimsal merchant. Then, as stupid as it sounds, he would've lived more.

Samantha was outside of her house tending to the vegetables. Her pale face and shaky hands couldn't have made the situation for Mark any worse, but he has no other choice but to tell her.

" Hello Mark, how are you doing today?" She asked him.

" Mrs.Rems, I..."

" You don't usually call me Mrs.Rems. Mark what happened? Tell me what happened to Jake?" Samantha asked with tears ready to spill at any moment.

" Jake...he will..." Mark tried to tell her, but he can't. Just looking at how physically and mentally broken she is, his voice couldn't just say the words.

" Mark please tell me. You're freaking me out even more when you are acting like this."

" Samantha, Jake will be hanged tomorrow afternoon." He quickly spilled the words out, forcing himself not to cry in front of this already damaged woman.

Samantha's tears went down her face, she fell onto the ground as she began crying even harder.  The neighbors stopped to look at what's happening, and then instantly lowered their heads and went to their work with a dreaded silence filling the neighborhood . The only sound present was Samantha's wailing.

Mark entered into his office, he had spent two hours to get Samantha off the ground and into her house where the other women went to help her get through this phase.

This isn't the first time someone was hanged because of some irrational reason. In fact this was the fiftieth time it happened in Triston alone. Triston is a village with a population of four-hundred villagers, so what about a town then? The smallest town population in Frimak(name of the country) is one-thousand, and the population had been decreasing ever since the Prigusts took over.

The Prigusts, a group of wealthy and strong people, believe they are the descendants of Lord Zeta. They say that anyone who had opposed them once will go to hell. Our country didn't accept them, so to them all of Frimak will go to hell. What they order has to be done with absolutely no rejection, or else the person will be hanged. Anyone who isn't a descendant of Zeta will be hanged for whatever reason. What's worse is that the person who has to hang all of these people was our former King Carl, who is known for his dedication to the people of his country, and if he doesn't do that the whole nation will be destroyed.

Mark thought about the old king's love for the country. He also loves Frimak, he wanted to do something to help his people. Then, he had an idea.

" Wilson!" Mark shouted as he headed upstairs to his brother's room," Wilson get all the villagers to the meeting hall!"

" What? How am I supposed to do that?" Wilson answered as he opened his room's door.

" I don't know. Just send the word to everyone. I'm counting on you!"

" Counting on me? Mark what are you planning to do?"

" You'll know once we get everyone. But for know I'll only tell you this, we will oppose to them." Mark said and left the house.

" Oppose them. This sounds interesting."

////////.\\\\\\\\

" That's everyone?" Mark asked.

" Yeah, all the village. I had some trouble to get some of them."

" I knew I could count on you. Now go take a seat."

" Well, why did you call for a meeting? It must be something important or I'm going to smack you hard with my cane." Thomas, and old man said.

" Don't worry, it is something very important. But let me ask you all a question. What do you think about the Prigusts' ways of treating us?"

" We all know the answer to that question!"

"They treat is horribly!"

" Then why don't we do something about it?" Mark asked.

" What are we supposed to do?"

" Defend ourselves."

" Defend ourselves?"

"Don't you think that it's about time we stopped this suffering. That it's about time that we thought about our children's future. Are you willing to remain silent after what had and is happening? Are you, all of you, willing to let them slowly take your rights, freedom, hope, YOURSELVES for God's sake! Are you? We are aware of ourselves dying a slow death, yet we still do nothing as our power slips away from our hands! What we do is that we go knocking on their doors, begging them for food, that was grown on OUR land and that is rightfully OURS!"

" But they'll kill us!"

" Are you afraid death? After all that had happened to us? You're afraid!? We have been in touch with death, seen death, spoke to death! They say that if we die, we go to hell. I'm perfectly good with that. In fact I hope that I go to hell so that I can see them with us there. So what's there to lose? We have no property, so nobody's house is going to be destroyed. We have no food, so nobody's going to starve even more than now. We have nothing to lose. As Simple as that. If we lose loved ones after we try to overcome them, then they died a noble death. They won't die from starvation or diseases. They will die for their country."

" Yeah! We have nothing to lose!"

" This suffering is worse than death itself!"

" May we see you at hell you bastards!"

" Even if we get caught in our first oppression of the system. We will keep going on until none of us is left standing! This isn't only to change our Present, it is to change our Future! For the Freedom of Triston!"

" For the Freedom of Triston!" The whole crowd cheered as happiness and a chance of hope bloomed in this meeting room that roofed the villagers of Triston.

It's just the beginning, we free Triston, then we free all of Frimak. Mark said to himself.

Hope you enjoyed blah blah blah. This is the first time I wrote about a topic like this and I have a lot of ideas. I want to thank StoryGirl555s  for supporting me with this. I'll try publishing another chapter later.
