Chapter Four

“Sister, what’s wrong?!” Star held her sister with fear in her eyes.

“What happened to her?” Ayato asked.

“I-I don’t know…”Star quickly placed her hand on Dark’s forehead, her eyes glowing white as well, to see what really happened. Sighing in relief, Star holds her sister close and says, “She only saw how your mother died.”

“Right...Come on, let’s get out of here.” Ayato lead Star back to the room, with Dark in her arms, and did not say another word.

After putting Dark to bed, Ayato left while Star stayed with her sister. “Ow…” Dark groaned, starting to wake up.

“You saw and felt the death of their mother, didn’t you?” Star questioned.

“I think I saw a little too much.” Dark sat up from the bed. “Not only that but I there is something strange going on. It’s something about this house.”

“Oh.” Was all Star said. Meanwhile with the brothers in the main hallway, they were having an argument. They were deciding whether or not to let them go or let them stay. They were knowing things too fast and have become a danger to the house.

“They are up to something. I know it.” Subaru said.

“How so?” Reiji replied. “Let’s not forget that they are children. They don’t know what they are. Yes, they behave like mortals but they are something else.”

“Haven’t you been noticing, Reiji? Dark is a ticking time bomb and Star is a whiner.” Ayato scoffed.

“But I like having them around. They’re so fun to play with~” Kanato smirked.

“And let’s not forget the promise we made to them about no harm coming toward them.” Laito chuckled. “What do you have to say about this, Shuu?”

“I really wouldn't care what we do with them. As long as there peace in quiet, I’m fine with it.” Shuu shrugged.

“Well I say we throw them out!” Subaru snapped. “Something is strange about them and their scent. I don’t like it. It smells like shit.”

“You say that about everything, Subaru~” Latio giggled. “In the girls’ defense, they are still trying to control their powers.”

“Powers as in sleep walking?” The room fell silent.

“What do you mean? Explain this to us.” Reiji demanded.

“Star sleep walks while Dark stares out the window all night.”

“And when did you witness this?”

“The other night. Star was in the main hallway and Dark was staring out her window.”

“Then looks like we have to keep a closer eye on them~” Laito smirks. Luckily, Dark saw this with her magic. She used Kanato’s eyes to see what was happening, causing her eyes to glow white.

When her eyes changed back to her normal color, she glared in a distance. “What’s the matter, sister? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” Star comments as she sits next to her on the bed.

“They’re onto us. Subaru saw you sleepwalking and saw me in my bedroom. He’s getting suspicious.

“Why is it a bad thing?”

“It is for me. But not for you. Get your rest sister, we have to go to their school a few minutes. Get as much rest as you can.” Dark smiles at Star. Star nods and takes a nap until it’s time to leave. But Dark had something else in mind.

When it was time to go to school, Dark screamed so loud that it alerted everyone, including Star. Dark was lying in the hallway while holding her stomach and curled up on the floor. “Sister, what’s wrong!?” Star ran to her and got on her knees.

“M-My stomach…” Dark whimpered. When the brothers arrived, Reiji kneeled down near Dark and felt her head.

“She’s burning up. She has to stay behind.” He said and Laito picked her up. “She’ll have to stay here for tonight.”

“But….” Star frowned. She doesn’t go anywhere without her sister. “I don’t want to be alone….”

“Go with them, Star…” Dark weakly spoke to her. “I just need to lie down…” Dark closed her eyes, as if she fell unconscious. Laito took Dark into her room, tucking her in and left with the others.

When Dark knew she was alone in the house, she opened her eyes and smirked. Sitting up from the bed, Dark chuckles as she says, “Time to search.” She giggled in a evil manner
