So, this is my first book and I will keep updating every Saturday if I'm not too busy with my school works.
I hope you enjoy!!!!!
"Scotch and coke please." A decidedly male voice said from beside me. A wave of deep, seductive vibrations crashed through me.
As I turned my vision collided with bright blue eyes, a strong jaw. And wavy dark hair. Combined with the broad shoulder and the four inches he had on me, the man was all sinful seductive without even trying.
Holly shit, what would happen if he tried?
His gaze followed the flute of champagne as the bartender slid the glass toward my hand. I waited as his gaze travelled up my arm, over my cleavage and up to my lips. I noticed every single pause of his eyes and the appreciative curve of his lips.
Obviously, the stranger liked what he saw very, very much.
That's when his eyes met mine. For a brief moment, we were locked together. Time stopped. The space between us evaporated. Electricity tingled across the surface of my olive skin. His looks turned dark and intense as some sort of connection was established between us. It was as if he saw something inside me that he recognised.
Something that he was quite conflicted about. One moment he was voracious as if he wanted whatever it was that he saw, and the next moment he looked worried as if I might break him. It was fascinating to see so much change in a matter of moments.
"Bride or groom?" he asked before I could figure out how to exit elegantly.
I cleared my throat. "Excuse me?"
He smiled as he took the glass of his whiskey. "Are you here for the bride or the groom?" His voice every bit as deep and smooth as it had sounded a moment ago.
I glance at the open-air dance floor beside us. All my friends were all twirling and laughing to the mixture of swing dancing and party music. A couple hours earlier we'd all watch as my brother Nathaniel Collin married Andean Higgins my best friend since we were born. And now we were celebrating into the summer night at the lakeside retreat of Andean's brother, Christopher.
"Groom, but maybe both?"
That's when it hit me like a bolt of lightning. How had I not recognised my stranger? Tall, broad, and wore a tux like he was born in it. He was Nathan's best friend from America. I was talking to Miles Archer. Nathan had told me once about him, that his family was one of the biggest entrepreneurs in America. It makes sense now from his accent that he was originally from London but live in America since he was born and my brother knew him since they work at the same company.
"Why do you sound confused?" he chuckled.
I shrugged and then tried desperately to look calm as my brain went into overdrive. "I suppose I'm on the groom's side as he is my brother but I'm also on the bride's side since I'm the maid of honour..." I tried not to giggle as Miles's lips turned into a smirk. I was terrible about finding innocent ways to make people feel uncomfortable. It was an excellent deflection method. "So yeah I'm on both sides." I gulp the rest of the champagne from my glass, feeling the booze and all I wanted to do was run screaming for the hills.
