Twelve Years Ago...
"Mommyyy!! Daddyyy!!" screamed little Jade. She was over the moon ecstatic that her parents finally got home from work. Her older sister, Abigail, was ignoring the five year old that was outside her door.
Jade wanted someone to play tea party with, that's all.
Her father, James, picked Jade up and swung her around in his arms. Jade happily giggled as she flew around her father.
"Hello Jade!" James said as he set her down.
Jade hugged her father's legs, as that was as high as she could reach.
She turned around and lifted her arms in the air, making grabbing motions with her hands as if to say, "Pick me up! Pick me up!"
Her mother, Lucy, lifted Jade off the ground and hugged her. Lucy held Jade and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"How's my favorite little five year old?" Lucy asked.
Jade's smile dropped and she pointed to her sister's room.
"Sissy won't play wit me!" Jade cried.
Lucy gave James a look of frustration and yelled,
"ABIGAIL SAGE MILLS!"
The door to a room burst open, and there stood a quite short, red-headed 16 year old.
"What?!" Abby groaned.
Abby always wore some sort of flannel. Black and teal, black and red, pink and white, you name it and she had it. She would only wear jeans that were ripped, especially shorts. Her shoes would vary between Vans, red high-top converse, mint high-top converse, and Black Nike shoes. Her hair was always straight, stretching down to mid back. Her skin was pale, with few freckles.
She had two piercings on each ear, and always had at least one earbud in an ear. Her eyes were an icy blue, and her lips were very small.
Currently, she was wearing a red and black short sleeve flannel, along with sweat pants.
"We had told you to play with your sister!" Lucy scolded.
"Oh yeah I forgot.." Abby muttered and turned on her phone.
"Abby, you will listen to your mother."
James ordered.Abby groaned. "Fine!"
Lucy had a cold expression on her face. "That's it. Two weeks, no phone." she hissed.
Abby's mouth fell open in shock.
"What?! That's not fai--" Lucy cut her off.
"Yes it is fair! You will not show an attitude, you will obey the rules, and you will play with your sister! Stop going against what I say, and we won't have this conversation nearly as much. Do you understand me?" Lucy demanded in a very harsh tone.
Everyone fell silent. Jade's mouth shut and her cheeks flushed a bright red.
Abby's mouth opened slightly and she replied, "...y-yes ma'am."
Lucy sighed. "Good, now hand over your phone." Abby gave her phone to her mom and stepped back a step.
"Go to your room. You will come out for dinner, or when it's clean. Whichever comes first. If you finish your room today, you'll get your phone back today." Lucy ordered. "Don't forget Grandma is coming today."
