My feet burn and ache. My vision distorts. The blinking lights of cars and lit up billboards make my head spin.
My parents have disappeared.
I didn't know much about them, but they gave me a place to live, food, and money. I had a bank account and a credit card that always had enough money for me to live, but all that money just disappeared. I was also kicked out of my house by the landlord for some reason. My parents won't pick up my calls, either. It's been three days.
Now I stand alone in the street, freezing my ass off. Hungry. Dizzy. As I walk down the crowded street, I feel myself trip over someone's foot and my knees slam against the cement. I hold my arms out to catch myself. Pain shoots through my legs.
"Owww..." I moan.
Of course. Now my heart, feet, stomach, head, and knees hurt. Just my luck. I attempt to get up, but pain floods through my knees once again. I just end up falling again. The cold air chills me to my core. Even though I'm in the middle of the town square, nobody bothers to even help me up because I look so helpless. Except for one person.
"Are you okay?" Someone speaks to me in a playful, soft tone. He holds out his hand for me and I hesitantly place my hand on his. He helps me up and notices my bloody knee. Embarrassed, I try to cover it with my hand, but he takes off his scarf and wraps it around my knee. He chuckles.
"That should stop the bleeding."
As I look up to thank him, I'm caught by surprise. His hair is a bright scarlet color. So vibrant. Around his neck was a silver cross necklace. And he looks cute, too. My age.
"Th-thank you." I weakly stutter. He smiles at me through his big glasses and nods. As he walks away, I sigh. I wish he would've stayed with me, but I can only dream. I sit down on a nearby bench, resting my body. I begin to unwrap the scarf around my knee, to look at my injury. The bleeding won't stop. I quickly wrap it around my knee again, and a piece of paper drifting on the ground catches on my foot.
When I pick up the paper, I read out loud.
"Lost Cat. Elizabeth the 3rd. $300 reward for finding her." The lost poster displayed a fluffy white cat and the location of where to drop it off. My stomach growls. I could use a money reward right now, I'm starving..!
Right as I put down the paper, a beautiful white cat jumps onto the bench I was sitting on and stared at me. I stared back, into it's bright blue eyes. They looked like an ocean. Ahhh, I could look at this cat's eyes forever...
GRRRR
I tightly grip my stomach. My stomach keeps growling. I look over at the poster, then snap my head back in the direction of the cat. Wait.... oh!
"Elizabeth!" I gasp. It's the cat from the lost poster! Finally, some luck! Reaching out for her, I coo her name and she slowly steps into my arms.
I manage to bring her all the way to the location displayed on the poster. It actually wasn't too far from the town square, since it was a huge company building with a suite at the top. I read the building name.
"C&R"
Shrugging, I bring Elizabeth into the lobby with me to the reception desk. The woman at the desk had short brown hair and a name tag. 'Jaehee Kang'
"Hi." I say, getting her attention.
The girl looks up at me, then to the cat, and her eyes widen and a huge grin is plastered across her face.
"Someone found the fur ball! I can finally leave the reception desk and go home!"
I weakly smile and nod. I'm so hungry, I could eat the cat.
