He Loved Me Since Forever

Chapter 16 *Memories

I lay back in the grainy hospital bed, bored out of my mind.

My mother had extented her visit to another two weeks; thankfully. She didn't have to know what happened - at all.

I sighed, trying desperatly not to cry again.

Our baby. I'd failed as a mother.

I couldn't help it when my mind drifted off to the early, happier memories of my childhood - when my father and mother had been best friends; as well as married parents.

~ FLASHBACK ~

"Elizabeth! Come back!" Maria laughed, running after a two year old trouble-maker Elizabeth.

"Boo," Damian laughed out, picking up his bundle of trouble into his arms.

"Papa!" Elizabeth laughed.

"Yes, Elizabeth?"

"I love you daddy,"

Damian kissed his daughter's forehead. "I love you too."

"Damian! Get back here with Miss. Trouble!" Maria called.

"Quick, run and hide away from the Dragon Lady!" Damian joked, holding his daughter in his arms and running to her room.

Elizabeth opened her closet, hiding behind all her clothes; as her father stood in front of the closet.

"Damian, let Elizabeth out of the closet."

He smirked, crossing his arms stubbornly. "Why?"

Maria rolled her eyes. "Because I baked cookies,"

Elizabeth burst out of her closet, a huge grin on her face - almost knocking over her father in the process.

"M!" Damian scolded playfully.

"What can I say, D? My baby girl loves cookies," Maria grinned, poking her tongue out at him.

~ END FLASHBACK ~

Tears streamed down my face, and I held onto the sleeping Max's shirt; burying my face into his shoulder.

"M-Max," I choked.

:: Max ::

I woke suddenly, as my shoulder was somehow getting wet.

Stupid leaky hospital-

"Beautiful what's wrong?" I asked without thinking.

"D-d-dre-am," She choked out, her breath coming out in little pants.

I dug my hand into my pocket, pulling out her inhaler and putting it into her hands.

"Baby, use your inhaler."

She did as she was told, and pressed the top button into her mouth - shakily - and her breathing calmed down to her sobs.

I wrapped my arms around her again, hugging her as tight as I could without hurting her - murmuring nonsense to her to get her mind off it.

"What was the dream about?" I murmured once she calmed down, still hugging her.

She shook her head silently. "I don't wanna talk about it."

"Will you tell me when you're outta here?"

"Okay," She rasped.

:: Elizabeth ::

It had been a week since I'd been rushed to hospital, and I sat up in my bed - group-texting Max, Leah and Katie; playing truth or dare.
