This was it.
He thought to himself as he looked at the crowd in front of him. They all had glow sticks waving in the air and all of their faces obscured by the darkness the stage light provided. It was amazing to be on a stage that was so beautiful but then again it was just a stage.
The last stage.
The stage that had a painted smile.
No there was no smile on the stage actually.
Only tears of those who were leaving forever.
Only tears that belonged to him.
He froze in the middle of his song as he felt his mask slowly crack.
He tried to think of something different.
Like all the moments he and this stage shared but that only caused the mask to break more.
The music had stopped when he froze and all the eyes were on him.
He watched as those in the front slow returned to their monstrous appearance they had when he first went on stage and his mask crumbled away.
He'd forgotten everything he learned from his years on stage.
He was back at the start.
Back to when he was being judged for his voice for the first time and the painted smile of his mask was in pieces on the stage below him.
Right in the middle of a pool of tears.
