You stood by the door frame as you watched the love of your life groaning in pain. His face was scrunched up in agony. His illness was eating him alive.
He couldn't leave you like that. He knew it and so did you. But that was the way things had had to go.
Twisting and turning in bed, Ethan's eyes finally connected with yours.
Suddenly he stopped moving and he just stopped struggling. Your gaze was enough to heal him mentally.
God, he loved you.
He held up a shaking hand and motioned you to come close. You bit your lower lip trying to hold back those stubborn tears.
But once your skins touched, you felt safe again. You relaxed into his touch and sat on the bed beside him.
"Hold me." He croaked weakly.
Still pushing your tears, you held him close. Close to your heart which belonged to him and him only. You could hear him sigh in happiness. And that made you smile.
At that moment, you didn't care if anything happened to you. You felt complete. You were complete with your baby, your Ethan.
You didn't hesitate to slowly play with his hair which once used to be soft and shiny. But all it was now was dirty, sweaty and dry.
Your heart broke to see him like that. The lively and adventurous boy that you fell for was now going through the last few moments of his life.
The moment they shared was special. When he found out about his terminal disease, he immediately thought of taking his last breath with him in your arms.
Not with his brother, Grayson. Not with his sister, Cameron. Not with his parents, Lisa and Sean. Not with his family; but with you. You were his family after all. And he didn't regret it a single bit.
"Y/N?" He hummed out.
"Yeah?" You whispered.
"Sing-" he coughed and started shaking violently. You did nothing but hold him closer, waiting for him to spill his last wish. "Sing to m-me, please?"
You inhaled sharply and slowly exhaled. Your hands were still tangled in his thinning locks. He laid back on your lap and closed his eyes, waiting.
With your thumb, you traced the dark circles and red patches on his face. You placed a small kiss on his forehead and did as he asked.
"Yes, I do. I believe.
That one day I will be where I was,
Right there; right next to you.
And it's hard.
The days just seem so dark.
The moon and the stars are nothing without you."
You sang those touching words which was originally sung by Sam Smith. Your voice did crack a couple of times but it wasn't because of the high notes.
It was because you knew the time had come to say good bye. No one wanted to but like one of your favourite quotes quoted, "The world is not a wish granting factory." You knew you had to let him go.
By the end of the song, Ethan was holding your hand in his. He gave it one last peck with his eyes still closed.
"Don't stop singing. I love you, Y/N." He whispered. He then did not speak again. After a while passed, you looked down at him and finally let the tears flow.
You screamed, you wailed, you yelled and you cried. But nothing seemed to wake your Ethan up from his deep slumber.
Hearing all the noise, Grayson knew his buddy was gone. But he had to let their fans know. So with silent tears he tweeted:
Guys he's gone. He didn't make it. I'm sorry to all.
He didn't bother reading the replies as he ran up to Ethan's room to comfort his sister-in-law.
. . .
Hello! Hope you liked this imagine. Sorry if it sucked xD The story you just read is actually what I saw in my dream. Yup, Ethan died in my arms and when I woke up I cried so much and I still do when I think about it. :,(
