Chapter 6

Kim's Pov
I've been getting the hang of my powers. All I know is that I have a heat power and shaping water. I can also move juices and drinks. Cassandra has been more suspicious of me lately. She's always coming up to me or sometimes she doesn't talk to me. Which is weird. Because she always wants to talk to me about her and Alex. Anyway it was a normal day of school. Until it started to rain. That means we can't leave the school. Alex and I look at it and each other.
"What are we going to do?" I ask. He just shrugs.
"Okay i'll try to move it." I nod. He uses his power but it didn't really do anything but make it pour. I didn't bring an umbrella so that's great.
"Shit!" He says. Everyone else left. So it's just the both of us.
"Now what?" I try to do the same thing, but it only made it worse.
"I don't get it! It always works! Why isn't it working now?" He shrugs. We then go by the lockers and sit.
"How long do you think this will last?" Probably not for a while.
"We both used our powers, so maybe a while." I sigh and put my head on his shoulder. He puts his hand on my hair and kisses the top of my head. I smile a little.
"I could try to call Cleo." He nods. I get my phone out and I call Cleo.
"Hello?" She picks up.
"Cleo. Hey."
"Kim? Why aren't you home yet?" I try to come up with an excuse.
"Alex and I are stuck at school because of the rain. I forgot my umbrella and I don't want to walk in the rain"  I hear her on the other side.
"Okay. I'll pick you guys up." I sigh in relief.
"Thanks Cleo."
"You're welcome." I hang up and Alex looks at me.
"She's going to pick us up." He nods and I smile. Thank goodness. If we try to go through the rain, we will turn into mermaids/merman! Cleo texts me and says that she's running late.
"Alex. She's running late." He looked nervous and sighed. He holds my hand and I smile at him. He smiles back. Honestly what would I do without him?
"Well. What do we do now?" I shrug. I really don't know what were gonna do. How can we leave the school without exposing ourselves? I know that no one is here, but Cleo might randomly pop up and see us. Sometimes I wonder. If she found out, would she expose us?
"Alex. If Cleo ever found out about us, would she expose us?" He shrugs.
"I don't know Kim. Let's just hope she doesn't" I will tell Cleo. But not right now. I don't think she would understand. The rain stops and Cleo comes up to us.
"Sorry I took so long. You guys alright?" We both nod and get in the car.
"Hey. Can we go to Rikki's? I want a juice and Alex has work." She nods. Alex's shift doesn't start until 3. It's 2:40. She drives up in the parking lot and we go in. Alex then goes behind the counter and I smile at him.
"You look so cute in your apron." He chuckles and kisses me. I kiss back and pull away. We smile at each other and he has his hand on my cheek.
"Dude. Stop getting distracted. Get to work!" I hear the most annoying voice ever. Zane.
"His shift doesn't start until 3. It's 10 minutes before that." He sees me and he's shocked.
"Kim? I barely recognized you!" I roll my eyes and cross my arms.
"Yeah yeah. Look. Don't get all sweet with me Zane!" He scoffs and crosses his arms.
"Really? I can't be nice to you?"
"You're not nice to anyone! So that should be easy for you!" Alex taps me and tells me he needs to get to work. I turn to him.
"Okay. I'll see you later okay?" He nods and he gives me a kiss on the cheek. He then gets his notepad and goes to tables.
"Look Kim. I'm older than you. You can't talk to me like that!" I scoff then get in his face.
"You may be older, but let's get one thing straight." I get even closer and he's just smiling.
"You have no idea of what i'm capable of." I then use the bucket of water that was next to him and splash it on him with my powers.
"Ahhh!" Everyone's laughing. He then looks at me kinda scared and serious.
"You should watch where you put a bucket of water." I then chuckle then walk away. Alex comes outside.
"Kim!" I sigh.
"I'm sorry okay? He gets on my nerves! He bosses you around, broke my sister's best friend's heart!" He grabs my hand.
"He is the manager. But that was in the past. Rikki is much happier without him." I nod.
"He may be manager, but he has no right to treat you like shit! So yeah he deserves that!" He nods and puts his arms around my waist.
"Just try not to do it in public. I have to admit, that was funny!" I blush and he kisses me.
"I have to get back to work, but i'll see you later." He nods. Cleo comes out and smiles.
"Ready to go home? I nod. We then drive home and I go to my room. I practice my powers. I make a water bubble. It was about to land on me when I put my hand up and the water never landed. I looked up and it was frozen. Whoa! Cool! I have three powers?! This is going to be so cool!
Zane's Pov
What the hell was that?! Oh hi. You already know me so I don't need to tell you. I got water dumped on me today and I think Kim did it. But what i'm trying to figure how our is how. That bucket was next to me and it splashed on me but not her. Is she a-? No! Why would I even think that? Maybe Cleo did it! She does have that power! She was in the cafe and she was laughing when it happened. I then went for a walk to clear my head. When I was looking at the water, I saw a mermaid and a... Merman? What?! There's a merman?! I didn't know that mermen exist! They are holding hands. I try to see their face, but they move faster on tbe water. I know that Rikki will be at Cleo's. I then start to go there and I knock on the door. Cleo opens it.
"Oh. Zane. What are you doing here?" I look at her.
"I need to talk to all of you. Please?" I ask softly. She sighs then nods and gestures for me to come on.
"Zane. Hey." Rikki said. I smile sadly at her and Cleo offers me a seat. I sit down. Everyone is silent.
"Okay well. I don't know if ot was you Rikki or Bella or Emma. But I saw a blonde mermaid with a merman." It seems like they know what i'm talking about.
"So you saw them?" I was confused.
"Wait you know about them?" They all nod. Wow. I know I don't talk to them that much, but it would've been nice if they could tell me.
"Well who do you think it is?" They shrug. I told them about what happened at the cafe. They are kind of upset with me but they just nod. I then hear laughing and I see Kim come in the door with Alex.
"I had so much fun." She giggles and they get closer.
"So did I." They kiss and pull away. Kim sees me and her smile turn into disgust.
"Cleo. Why is he here?" I look at her.
"Kim. Be nice" Sh scoffs.
"Be nice? I know how to be nice. He doesn't! He's a jerk who doesn't give a shit about anyone but himself. Come on Alex. Let's go to my room!" I was shocked. Who does she think she is?
"Sorry Zane." I just sigh. There's something about Kim. Cleo said that she didn't do anything to the bucket. If she didn't, then who did?
"Guys. Do you think Kim is the mermaid?" They all looked at me and laughed.
"Kim isn't a mermaid. Trust me we tested her." But did they really?
"Are you sure?" They nod. Well I have to see for myself.
"Okay. Sorry to bother you." They nod and I leave the house. I think Kim is the mermaid. But how can I prove it?
Alex's Pov
Kim and I had the best day ever. We went swimming earlier and it was so amazing. I just love being with Kim. She's just so beautiful and I think I love her. I hope she feels the same way about me. I would do anything for her. We found the entrance to Mako. We spent the day there and just hung out and talked. Kim is everything to me. I will never let her go. Were in her room and she's venting.
"I hate Zane so much!" I calm her down and she smiles.
"Let's not talk about him. Let's train you." She nods. She makes the water in the air then she freezes it.
"You got a new power?" She nods. I hug her and kiss her. She deepens it and I go on the bed. We don't do anything, but we just lay there together and hold each others' hand.
"I love you Kim." She looked shocked but then she smiled.
"I love you too Alex." She kisses me and puts her head on my chest. God I love her. I will always be there for her. No matter what happens.
