Nathanael had always had a crush on Marionette and because of that Adrien was his rival but, that changed after Adrien started trying to conversate with him more. It soon made Nathanael realize he had a crush on both of them and the crush on Adrien started to get bigger and bigger, which made Nathanael realize that Adrien was slowly becoming more than a simple rival.
Adrien never really had a crush on Marionette and Marionette soon got over the crush she had on Adrien. Adrien instead had more of a crush on Nathanael and was constantly hoping that Nathanael felt the same.
They both knew they would have to confess to each other soon because they had to do a science project together, the idea of spending more time with the other made Nathanael blush and Adrien smile.
