A girl is a mermaid that happens to be caught by humans. She is in am aquarium that's a little too small for her, and is an attraction for tourists coming from anywhere you can think of.
As more people arrive, she is forced to swim by the glass and smile at strangers, but the smile not reaching her eyes. A man walks in, about her age and makes eye contact.
He makes it his mission to set her free, falling in love in the midst of it all and trying to figure out how they could be together
