The woman was screaming her lungs out. She was in pain but she knew it would be worth it in the end. She had her two mates beside her, whispering sweet nothings. She wanted to respond, to laugh at them and tell them to fuck off but she was in too much pain.

This wasn't the way she thought it would be.

"Push Luna."

The woman pushed and screamed and screamed and pushed. She felt so weak. She wasn't going to make it, she just knew it. She just hoped her baby would make it. It's fathers would take care of it. She could feel tears running down her face and despised the show of weakness.

"One more push Luna."

She was glad this pain was coming to an end. Alpha babies were never easy to carry or deliver but her baby had made it. She gave one more push with all her remaining strength and felt something slide out of her. She shivered as her exhausted muscles relaxed. She almost smiled until she realised her baby wasn't crying.

She raised her heavy head to see it but the midwife had already whisked it away. Ezra was no longer by her side. He must be with the baby.

With that in mind she allowed herself to relax but she knew she wouldn't be able to sleep until she saw her pup.

"You did so good Hanna." Her mate Erin praised her from where he sat in the chair beside her bed. His hands were buried in her hair the way she liked it.

She gave him a weak smile but her head quickly snapped to the door as it opened. Her smile grew brighter before it  disappeared completely. Ezra was there holding their little bundle of joy in his arms but.....he was crying.

"It was a boy." Ezra choked out.

Was....

She shook her head vehemently. No... no...no.

It couldn't be. She  outstretched her hands for her baby. He was hungry. She needed to nurse him. Ezra laid him gently in her arms. She smiled as she looked upon his angelic face. He was sleeping that's all.

"He's only sleeping Ezra." She said to her mate.

Erin was crying now as well. She couldn't understand why they were so upset. Their baby was only sleeping. She frowned. She couldn't decide wether to wake him up to nurse or leave him sleep. She decided to leave him be for the moment. She cradled him to her chest as something fundamental....something basic, broke in her.

She could feel tears running down her face but paid them no mind. Her baby would wake soon and nurse and everything would be as it should. Their family would be complete.

But their family would never be complete. Soon even this grief stricken mother had to admit that her angel was gone. She wouldn't let anyone near her as she screamed and cried her loss. Soon the doctors had to let her rest. They gave her medication that induced sleep. The two males stayed by her side lost in their own grief but unwilling to leave their broken mate alone. They had been so happy the past nine months it was hard to believe this was the outcome. Their baby was gone. They would never get to hear his sweet giggles and loud cries. They would never get to ear him say 'I hate you Dad!' As a teenager.

The entire pack soon heard the news and despair set in. The next alpha was gone.

The Luna slept peacefully that night in a drug induced sleep...at least for a little while.

Sometime during the night her heart monitors quickened dangerously and alphas smelt blood. They screamed for the doctors. The Luna was awake now. She seemed unconcerned with everything going on around her. She beckoned her mates to her. She pulled them down to her in an awkward hug.

"Promise me...." she started in a weak voice.

"Shhhhh don't strain yourself." Erin said.

She held on tighter.

"Promise me you won't be sad. Promise me you'll find love again and be happy."

Her mates were shocked.

"Don't talk like that- " Erin started but she interrupted.

"You have to....especially you Ezra.... promise me."

Her voice was getting weaker and her eyes were drooping. The doctors and machines faded as Erin looked at his fading mate.

"I promise." He said.

She smiled at him brightly and for a moment he thought everything was going to be OK.

She turned to Ezra. He shook his head. He wasn't going to do it. If she died here then so would he. He would find a knife and cut his heart out before he ever loved someone else.

"Alphas you need to leave. You're in the way."

"Please Ezra you need to. I'm dying baby and there's nothing you can do about it. I will be with my baby but you have to find someone. This is the goddesses will."

Ezra didn't want to promise but he could never say no to her.

"I promise." He didn't mean it of course but he wanted her to be happy and was satisfied when she smiled.

"Thank you. I love you both."

With that she closed her eyes and never opened them again. The pack mourned for months for she had been a good Luna and the alphas mourned for years. Till this very day they long for her.
