ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!

"I really don't want to do this mom." I admonished.

"You must darling. I won't be disgraced."

I scoffed.

Me doing this was going to be the disgrace. My mother has always tried pushing me into being like the other werewolves. Strong, aggressive. I bet if she found a way to make me taller she would try that too. I won't lie sometimes I understood why she did the things she did. I was her only child and I guess she expected more from her only pup.

"I'm not strong like the others mom." I whispered.

"Well then this is your chance to get stronger isn't it?"

I sighed.

"Yes ma'am."

I could feel my palms getting slicker and I knew my forehead was probably shining with a thin layer of sweat right about now. My stomach was twisting and turning in the most uncomfortable of ways and I was pretty sure my breakfast was trying very hard to find its way right back up my throat.

"Go on now." said mother.

I gave her one last lingering look, pleading with my eyes but she turned away from me so I turned away from her and out the door.

I made my way to the meadow at the center of our pack. See our pack is shaped like a circle with all the buildings surrounding a huge meadow. The meadow was my favourite place in the entire pack. I could lay in the flowers for hours, out of sight of mother and Kiersten and everyone else I just couldn't be bothered with but today it was a place I was dreading.

When I got there the place was already crowded. You could feel the excitement and tension in the air. This was not the first year for our pack with the Alphas but it was the first for most of us who were too young the first time around.

I wanted to leave but I knew mother would be furious so I rooted myself to the ground and clenched my fists and fought the urge to flee.

Our alpha was there. He was a big, stocky guy. I thought he was a bit of a creep really but he was strong and ran the pack well and in our world strength was everything. He had blond hair that was greying in the sides and the nastiest set of teeth on the planet. I wonder how the luna dealt with them. They were yellow and the front teeth were too big.

I was losing my resolve when a hush went through the crowd. I tried to keep my eyes on the alpha but he got lost in the crowd, probably going to welcome the Alphas. Apparently they had arrived late last night and we were starting our training today. It is going to go on for a month or so depending on how we performed.

Part of me wanted to see them but some other part didn't. It was too late to run now though, people would notice so I stayed silently where I was. Maybe it wouldn't be as gruesome as I imagined. Maybe it was going to be fun.

I scoffed at my own thought.

I was moving to the back of the crowd just to be out of sight when I caught a curious scent. I couldn't say what made it stand out to me but it did. It smelt of the woods. Of trees and sunlight and...male.

I shook my head to get rid of the scent only to catch another that grabbed my attention just as completely. This one smelt of rain. That wonderful smell of the earth right after it rains and something else, something similar to the first. These scents were really messing with my head and I found I'd completely changed direction.

I frowned.

To follow the scents or not to follow the scents, that is the question.

It turns out this was useless because it seemed I had walked right to the front and what I'd been looking for was right in front of me.

He was glorious.

He had hair the colour of onyx and eyes the colour of steel. His eyes held mine for what seemed like forever when it was only a few a seconds, time seemed to stop around us and the only thing I could hear was the sound of my own heart pumping viciously away.

My face stretched into a grin and I ran towards him and threw my arms around his neck and wrapped my legs around his waist. No one else existed in the world but us.

"Mate." I whispered into his ear.

I felt him shiver under me and I smiled wider.

I opened my eyes only to met by another pair of steel grey eyes and again I lost. Again I was falling. I detached myself from my mate and walked to other man. He looked just like the first. There were small differences of course but they were all artificial like their clothes and the length of their hair.

I jumped on him too. I bet my mother would have had a stroke if she had been there. I rubbed my cheek against his in greeting.

"Mate." I declared again.

I felt his hands come to my waist and I snuggled my face into his neck. This is the day I have been waiting for. I finally had my mate...mates. I wanted to scream with glee. Two mates just for me. Ha! Take that Kiersten.

I realized too late that my mate was prying me off him. I released him as colour flooded my cheeks.

He looked into my eyes as he set me down. I smiled up at him.

"Mate." I said again. I was probably starting to sound like a retard now.

"No." He replied.

I felt like the air just got knocked out of me. What did he mean no. I knew he felt it. My wolf was whining and whimpering inside me but I couldn't get passed my confusion.

"What?" was my dumb reply.

"I'm not your mate." he said with so much conviction I wondered if id just imagined the connection between us.

I could hear the world around me now.

Everyone was laughing at me.
