Marinette's POV
I unlocked the door and looks like I was right. The dark figure peeks his head into my room with his signature toothy grin.
"Hello Princess, miss me?"
I give him a sad smile and nod my head towards him in approval, he jumps down and his smirk drops.
His green eyes pierced mine and I saw the concern they held."Chaton, are you ok?"
His look went from concerned to weirded out within seconds. He looked at me as if I suddenly grew three heads.
"Chat?"
He shook his head and I approached him slowly but he cut me off.
"Am I ok? The question is, are you ok?"
I looked at him strangely to cover up the fact that he was right but it isn't time to show weakness right now.
"What do you mean-"
He abruptly cut me off before I could finish my question.
"You know what I mean, why would you say that about yourself?"
It took me a good few seconds to get rid of the confused expression on my face, and then I realised, he must've hurt me. My gaze focused on the suddenly interesting wooden floor.
"Mari?"
Silence.
"Marinette Answer me."
His tone was demanding but intimidation doesn't work on me, never did and never will. He softened his approach and grabbed my chin so I would have to look at him.
"Princess, you know all of it is not true right?"
I bit my lip and tears welled up in my eyes but I refused to let them go, not in front of him. He's the only person I'm refusing to disappoint.
He pulled me into a tight hug and I reciprocated. I clutched his leather suit in my tight grasp and clung onto him like a koala. I buried my head into his neck and I felt his hot breathe on the side of my face. His embrace always makes me feel safe, just like my parents' but this one is different, a new kind of different. He whispered sweet nothings into my ear until my frown was gone and I was stunned when I heard myself giggle at a new pun he came up with.
I leaned into his touch and he walked me to my bed, he laid me down and spun around on my pinky black desk chair. We talked for hours until the sun was rising and he had to leave before someone notices he's gone, whoever that is. Sometimes I wonder who he is,the boy behind the mask but I don't think it's worth knowing, if things get messed up afterwards then there's no point in knowing.
Chat left around two hours before dawn and I tried to fall into a dreamless sleep. I was just ready to sleep and forget everything because being awake is and always will be harder than being asleep.
So I decided to do what I always do when I need o to relieve some stress and turn into the beloved heroine of Paris.
I felt always guilty for waking up Tikki. She was dreaming so softly and she looked so calm and pure, so innocent and unbothered, but as selfish as it was I woke her up. I gave her a gentle smile when she sat up and began rubbing sleep out of her eyes, she stifled a yawn and gave me a sleepy questioning look.
"Wanna go do some patrolling?"
She gave me a subtle nod and that's all I needed.
"Tikki, spots on."
