I'm sorry

Marinette's POV

I feel something brush the hair out of my eyes and I open them to see a fully rested and smiley Tikki floating above me calmly.

"I thought you would've liked it if I woke you up when it got dark, are you still tired?"

I give her a sleepy shake and slip from under my warm covers. I stretch my arms above my head and change into a suitable outfit, just in case.
A black leather jacket, white shirt, black jeans, coloured boots and a scarf with warm colours, I felt different so I put my hair up into a nicely fitting bun. This feels fresh and comforting, change can be good sometimes.

"Tikki, spots on."

The transformation kept my bun but everything else disappeared, I swing out my window and onto the Eiffel Tower, same place as always. The silence made me realise something. Does Tikki even know what happened at the tower? Or does she only think we got defeated? I don't know if I can hide the truth from her if she does know though, she's someone I could never lie to.

"Hello M'Lady."

The blonde lands in front of me on the railing and slips down onto the platform.

"Hi Kitty."

"What happened with the akuma yesterday?"

Here it goes.

"It defeated me."

He looks at me in wonder and shrugs his arms nonchalantly.

"Then we just have to catch it again, mistakes happen. Look at how many times I let a villain go."

He always knows what to say, what's that like?

"I guess, even though it wasn't ever your fault"

"It wasn't yours either."

His face showed nothing but sincerity and I nodded at him, even if he wasn't correct. He would've pressed further about what happened but he knows how I work, I would not tell him even if I should. I'm grateful to work alongside someone like him.
We slip into the darkness of the night and patrol for a couple hours but without luck, our runaway villain was nowhere to be seen.

We meet up again but more concerned than before. This time I'm the one that has to comfort him.

"She'll show up eventually, don't stress it Chat."

He nods and looks at me with an expression I haven't seen on him before, a lovesick expression.

"I think so too, we should head home for the night."

"Ok, let's go. Are you coming?"

"I have a stop to make first, I have to check up on the friend I told you about yesterday."

How many things can go wrong lately? Can life stop throwing obstacles my way for once?

"Are you sure that's a good idea, maybe you should do that tomorrow."

"No I'll be ok, you go ahead though. See you tomorrow M'Lady."

He dashes away and I swing towards my house in a rush. (At Spidey Speed)
I slip through the trapdoor and run into the bathroom to turn the shower on. I hear someone enter my room so I whisper "Tikki, spots off."

"Princess?"

"Chat? What are you doing here?"

I talk over the noise the water is making in an attempt to pull off my last minute coverup idea.

"Came to check up on you, why aren't you asleep?"

"Why aren't you?"

He sighs at me and I take advantage of the situation.

"Can you pass me my pyjamas, they're on my bed?"

He shuffles across the room and knocks on the door before handing me them.

"Thank you."

"So, will you answer my question?"

I slowly begin to feel my irritation overpower my patience and I do my best not to snap at him.

"I was doing homework, catching up on projects for school. Now that you have your answer can you please leave?"

His voice grew small.

"Ok, I'm sorry. I'm going to leave now."

"That would be great, thanks."

I immediately felt guilty when the room outside grew silent. I always mess up, I should just keep my mouth shut.

The Akuma, my identity, Chat. That all happened because of me.

I quickly change into my clothes and reach for the blade still by my side, because now I have no doubt that I deserve this.

Adrien's POV

"Plagg claws in."

The tired Kwami reaches for his stack of cheese and floats onto the bed next to me.

"Why would she lie to me?"

The busy cat gave me a shrug and continued eating. Usually I'd shrug a lie off but this time it's different, something didn't feel right.
