"Julie get up! First day of high school!"

Just the words I wanted to hear. I sit up in my bed, removing my eye mask. "Yes! I'm officially a freshman," I say getting out of bed.

I walk over to my closet, "Yes you are my little sunflower." I slightly jump, turning around seeing my mom leaning against my doorway. I sighed, "Mom stop being weird."

She softly giggles making me turn my attention back on my outfit. It took hours finding the perfect outfit! "How does this look?"

I turn around, holding the outfit up for her to see. A smile appears upon her face, "That's cute sweetheart." I blush, "Thanks mom took me hours." I say rolling my eyes. "You look cute always, I'll be downstairs cooking breakfast."

I smile, taking a bite of my toast.

"Are you still down for picking up Josh and Casey?" I ask my mom. She nods making me smile. "Morning ladies." I tuck a piece of hair behind my ear as my dad appears in the kitchen. "Morning," I say back turning my focus onto my phone.

Me: morning weirdos, it's the first day of high school 😊😊😊

Casey: I know, I'm dreading with fear!

I softly giggle before my fingers glide across the screen.

Me: right! I was dreaming about it all last night.

Josh: ladies, ladies, how many times do I have to tell you WE SHOULDNT BE NERVOUS! THEY should fear US! 👑👏🏼

I roll my eyes, "Typical Josh," I mumbled taking a sip of my apple juice.

"Ready sweetheart?" I meet my mom's gaze standing up. "Yup." I say walking into the living room to collect my backpack. "Hey wait, before you leave we need pictures."

I stop moving and turn to my dad. "Really?" "Really." I shrugged, "Alright let's hurry this along."

I knock on the Smiths' door waiting for an answer. Seconds later, it swings open revealing a happy Josh. I giggle, "Hello Joshua," I joke as he wraps an arm around my neck dragging me inside the house.

"Familia, guess who's here!" He shouts closing the door behind us. "Who?" I heard Casey shout from upstairs. "The woman, the myth, the legend herself, Julie Foxx." I laugh as Josh removes his arm from around me and starts clapping.

"Julie!" My head shoots up as I see my best friend for 14 years rush down the stairs. She engulfs me in her arms. "Casey!" I mock as she pulls away. "You look great!" I say admiring her outfit. She has on a white sundress and blue jean jacket.

"Thanks, you're pretty rocking yourself."

Then, all of a sudden, we hear Josh clear his throat making us turn around seeing him with his arms crossed. "I didn't get a proper greeting." He whined. I quickly wrapped my arms around him, "that's because you nearly took my head off dragging me in the house."

Honk! Honk!

I swiftly pull away, looking between my besties, "Alright that's my mom, let's bounce!" I say heading towards the door. "Have a great day you three!" I heard Mrs. Smith all of a sudden shout. I give her a thumbs up before rushing out the house towards my mom's car.

I get in the back, scooting towards the door so Casey and Josh could get in. "Morning momma Foxx," Josh says as he shuts the car door. My mom looks through the rearview with a smile.

"Morning Josh and Casey. You two excited for today?" Casey hesitantly nods while Josh smirks, "I was born ready momma Foxx."

"Born ready for what? Getting picked on?" Casey jokes making me laugh. "Haha! No, born ready for the women of high school."

"You should be focusing on your studies brother from another mother," I say as he just rolls his eyes. Casey then smacks his shoulder making him retaliate. I mentally roll my eyes, these two are cousins but they fight like brother and sister.

"Knock it off!" I say reaching my hand in between them. They both stop, "Anyway, aren't you guys happy we don't have to wear uniform?"

They both look at me, "Oh my gosh, yes!" Casey says. "Yeah but we would've rocked them either way," Josh confidently states. I'm happy at least one of us is confident about starting high school.

Minutes Later

"Alright you three, we're here."
