I feel someone nudge my back and I groan. "Ōkami, It's time for school." I hear Blaze say tiredly. I sit up and rub my eyes. "Okay, first off, you're going to want to stand up straighter." I pull my neck back and myback in. "Better. If you slouch like that you'll be a easy target for bullies." I smile. "If that's all it is I'll keep standing like this." She nods. "We should go eat breakfast." She says. I nod and follow her. We sit at the table and I watch how she uses the silverware. I try and copy and give up. I hold the fork the way I did the last time I ate with a fork and speared it into the food. "Alright, Ōkami, Blaze, time to head to the bus." Blaze's mom says. Blaze nods and picks up two bookbags. She hands a deep navy blue one to me. "It has all the materials and stuff you'll need for school." I nod and follow her out to the bus stop. We get on the bus and she sits next to a guy. I crouch (if you dont know how he's sitting he's owling...If you don't know what that is...google it...it's really weird and actually comfortable xD) into the only empty seat on the bus. "Hey, Ōkami?" Blaze says, looking over her seat. "Yeah?" "Try sitting normally." "My legs hanging off the seat correct?" "Yup." I slip my legs off the edge of the seat and lean my head on the window. I hear Blaze and the guys conversation. "You know him?" The guy says. "Yeah, and?" "He's weird..." "He was homeless but I kinda felt like helping him. Homeless people make me kind of sad, so I wanted to help." I hear Blaze say. "Are you sure it isn't because he's cute?" "Haha, pretty sure. He's a bit quiet." The other girl leans over the seat. "Hey." I say. "Oh...hi. I'm Ianmikale, you can just call me Mika." "I'm Ōkami." "Nice name...Ōkami...has a good ring to it." He says. Mika had really dark brown hair, almost as dark as mine, with blonde highlights. Sharp, icy blue eyes and I could see little bumps that may be the tips of ears under his hood. "Hybrid?" I say. He nods. Me, Mika, and Blaze talk until we get to school. The bus screaches to a halt and we get up. "Haha, slouching much?" Mika says. I shrug. "I don't mind." "Okay." We walk in and someone greets us at the door. "Hello! You're Ōkami right?" He says. "I am." I say. "Get your stuff from the front office." I nod. I turn to Blaze. "How do you spell office?" I ask. "O-F-F-I-C-E." She spells out. "Thanks." I look for a sign that spelt office and found it. "Hello, Ōkami. Here's your lock and you need to read this form." "I...um...I don't know how to read." I say. I rub my fingers together and look at the ground. "O-oh...well...get someone to read it to you." The office lady says. "Thanks..." I mumble. I pick up the lock and form. "There you are!" Blaze says, as I walk into the classroom she said we were in. "Hey," I say. I crouch in the chair and Blaze pokes my arm. "Sit down." She whispers. "Oh, right," I sit down. "Keep forgeting I can't do that here." She smiles. "It's okay." "Oh, it's that new kid." I hear people saying. "I heard he's really weird and quiet." Someone taps my shoulder and I look over to see who it was. She had pink hair and blue eyes. "Hi!" She says. "Hey." "What's your name?" She asks. "Ōkami." "Nice name Ōkami. I'm Zero" Some guy walks up behind her and puts his hand on her shoulder. "You flirting with my girlfriend?" "What's a girlfriend?" He looks at me confuzed. "Sorry, I haven't talked to anyone my whole life and there are words I don't know." "A girlfriend is...someone who is a girl and you go out with her and ya know...kiss and stuff." Zero explains. "Oh. Well, I knew what it was but not what it was called. Thank you." Zero smiles. "No problem!" The guy behind her looks me up and down, not to different from what Blaze's dad did. "You're looking me over to see if I'm hitting on your girlfriend huh?" "How did you know?" "You're not really hiding it." "What am I thinking?" Zero asks. I look into her eyes. "You're thinking about what you want to eat for lunch and now you're thinking about how you skipped breakfast." Her eyes widen. "Oh my gosh!" She says. "Oh! Do me!" Mika says. I look into his eyes and smile. "What?" "You want me to think that you're thinking about pizza but I can tell you're thinking of some ONE." "Woah! That's deep..." "Ōkami! Do that to the teacher when he gets in here." Blaze says. "You guys really want me too? I'd have to look pretty crazy for me to read an adult." "Do it!" They all say, except for the guy. "To answer your question," I say to the guy. I owl on the desk and get in his face at a slight tilt. "I'd look a bit like this." I say, in a low voice. "Yeah, that's kina crazy." Zero says. The teacher walks in and I look into his eyes. "Woah," I say. "Please, get off the desk." He says. "You really hate us don't you?" I say. I look deeper into his eyes and he looks a bit uncomfirtable. "Oh, you pervert." "Okay that's enough." He says. I sit back down and smirk. I sit Native-American style in my seat. "What was he thinking about?" Zero whispers. "First, about all of us being insane and him yelling at us and hitting us with rulers, and then...he was thinking about you and Blaze." "Ew." Blaze says. "Ōkami, look in my eyes I have something I want to tell you since he won't." I look into Zero's eyes. "Ah. Nash, is it?" I say, turning to the guy. "How-oh..." I glimpse into his eyes. "Woooooah, dude, overreacting." He smiles. "What?" Zero asks. "You don't want to know." The bell rings and a swarm of students rush in. "Alright, open your books to page 248 and I'd like Ōkami to read the passage out loud for us." The teacher says. I feel my heart drop. I'd have to say it in front of the whole class. "I...I can't read..." I say. I hear people chuckle and whisper. "You're joking, right?" He asks. I shake my head. "Afraid not." "Alright then, David..." I look at the words as he reads, trying to figure out how to spell what and what they sound like and not what they look like. The teacher dissmisses us and I take my binder and walk out of the classroom. "You really don't know how to read?" The kid named David asks me. "Yes, but that doesn't mean I can't speak." I say. "Ohhhhh, need some ice David?" I hear another boy say. "Oh, shut up!" They walk off and I look at my schedule. Blaze taught me how each period was spelt so I know where I'm going. English is so confuzing. I had...math next. Good, math was my strong suit. I sit down andslip my feet off the chair. Looks like bad habits die hard. "Alright, so, Ōkami right?" The teacher says, turning to me. "Yes ma'am." "Come up here and show us how well you do in math." I hear someone whispering and concentrate on that. "David says he can't read." I hear someone say. I turn to were I heard it. "Yes, that is true, but I can hear and do math." They look at me wide eyed and I walk up to the board. I look at the equation and write it were it was supposed to go. "Very good! What school did you go to last year?" The teacher asks. "I didn't." I walk back to my seat and try and sit down in the normal position. It was less comfortable in some ways, but more comfortable in others. We go through the rest of math class and the teacher dissmisses us. Blaze and Mika run over to me. "Hey! We go into our homeroom before lunch so, the language arts room." Blaze says. "Alright." We sit down and wait for everyone to walk in. Someone slams their hands on my desk and I look up cooly. "Nice tough act." I say. "What? This isn't an act idiot!" They snap. "I see it in your eyes." He grabs my shirt collar and my neck cracks. "Thanks, there was a lot of tension there." I grab his arm. He was chocking me now, I couldn't play this off much longer. "Connor! What are you doing?!" I hear the teacher yell. He lets go of my collar and I rub my neck. "Do you need ice?" The teacher asks me. I shake my head. It had hurt, but I'd be fine. "Alright, get going to lunch." We stand up and I push my chair in with my foot. "Ōkami, sre you sure you're okay?" Blaze asks. "I'm fine." I say. We walk to the lunch room and Rana walks in soon after. "There you are! Were were you?" Blaze says. "Dentsist. Ōkami is here?" She says. "Yes, Blazes mom signed me up." I say. We get our lunches and I mostly listen to their convorsation. "Ōkami, I know why Connor attacked you." Rana says. "Why?" I ask. "Most of the girls think you're cute, so he got jealous." "O-oh..." I say. "Just saying, don't be supprized if you get asked out." Mika says. "Do you think any girl is cute here?" I look around. "They all look nice." I say. "Do you know what friendzoning is?" Mika asks. I shake my head. "Friendzoning is when a guy or girl is close friends with someone and they have no chance of becoming more than that." He explains. "Yeah, like if a girl says, 'you're like a brother to me.' you're friendzoned." Rana adds. "Ah." A teacher walks over to us. "Ōkami, Blaze?" "Yes?" We say. "You two need to check out." I nod and follow Blaze. "I wonder were we're going" I ask. I open my locker and take out my bag. "I dunno." Blaze says. We walk to the office and Blaze's mom is there. "Hey you two. You're coming home early since we're heading somewere." "Can I ask or is it a suprize?" I ask. We walk to the car. "It's a suprize" We drive a little while to Clare's school. She runs over and we walk back out. "Does Ōkami have to come?" Clare moans. "Yes, any more questions?" "No..." We drive and drive until we get to a hotel. "We'll stay here here the night." "Can I ask were we're going now?" I ask. "Nope." Blaze's mom says. I owl and look in her eyes. We were going to the beach, whatever that is.
