NO MATTER what her heart wanted her to believe, Laura was more than happy to leave the Salvatore House.

The rampaging vampire - his ego on ten thanks to the earlier quip about her crushing on him - had offered her a ride home, which she; probably too flippantly - declined.

She'd rather scoop her eyes out than ride in a car alone with him.

The walk home left much room for unwanted thoughts.

Like why she'd laughed at something he'd said.

Every time she tried to assure hersrlf that it was just to keep up the act she knew that she'd genuinely found what he said funny.

And that scared her more than the idea of killing him - if that scared her at all

With all of this soul searching, she nearly passed the patch of trees that hid the place she called home. Luckily, she realized it before she'd walked too far from it.

As she made her way to the trees, she thought of what to tell her brothers. No doubt they'd want to know why she didn't come home after school and more importantly, if she'd made any progress with killing him.

Surely she'd leave out the unfortunate laughter...

The youngest Winchester opened the door and walked in, slinging her backpack to the floor as Dean glanced at her.

"How was school?" he asked sarcastically, his actual question evident in the subtext.

"I studied at the Salvatore House." she told him. And at his immediate look of alarm, "Relax, I was with my friends from school the whole time" - that was a lie, one they didn't need to know about - "and he helped us with history homework."

"And Damon?"

"I know where he lives, which means I have access to his inner circle." she said proudly.

"What do you mean inner circle? Your friends - they know?" Dean was baffled.

"Of course. One of them dates his brother for pete's sake." she folded her arms.

Then he did something very rare nowadays,

He smiled.

Laura, not used to seeing it, especially when it came to her and this mission, was taken aback. "Is something wrong?"

"Great job little sister. You're progressing well," Laura was elated to hear this as she returned the grin "Now make sure you're done with your homework."

Thanks to Stefan's help the day before all four girls finished their homework and turned it in the next day.

Laura wondered if he'd still offer his help after she carried out the deed.

They were about halfway through the class period when Elena tapped her and pointed to a flyer on the door.

Apparently there was a dance today.

The huntress shrugged when inside she was wondering how she'd even be let in - unless of course this dance called for various vampire killing and wearable weapons with a mostly black outfit as the dress code.

"You have to come, " she whispered. " We'll be there, and you seem like you could use some fun."

Just as she was going to politely decline, she thought better off it.

What if.. She said to herself, I go with Damon and he gives me proof that he's a vampire!

Proud of herself for thinking up such a genius plan, she smiled, shrugged and said "Fine, I guess I could use some fun."
