It only took me a few hours of walking to reach my destination.
Mountain View, a beautiful town that had, well, a view of mountains. Good job, whoever named this place. You are very creative.I searched the map inside my chip and found where ther local high-school was located. Quickly, I continued walking for about five minutes before the large building came into view beside a series of apartment buildings.
The school was large with three stories that were all packed with teenage students. It had a sign out front that said Mountain View High-School: Home of the Rattlesnakes.
The school was also covered in banners that had a rattlesnake coiled up in the letters MVHS printed on all of them in silver, blue, and gold.
I walked into the school with my guard up. I did not want to end up walking in on a trap created by Ein.
The scene laid out before seemed normal. Just a bunch of teenagers messing around with each other. Before school started. Exactly what I used to do before... NO! I'm not thinking about that. I am free and I refuse to live in the past.
I focused on a small group of students that were talking about something by the stairwell. The group consisted of a girl who was clearly human and had hair that went down just a little past her chin that was colored in an ombre that started at a deep brown and worked it's way to a light blonde. She had green eyes and a gorgeous face that had not even a drop of makeup on it. She wore a baggy black T-shirt that had a grey and white A on it and a pair of jeans that were ripped at the knees.
The next group member was a werewolf. He had sandy blonde hair that was the same color as his tail and wolf ears. His eyes were a deep chocolaty brown and he wore a simple red hoodie and grey jeans.
The last member of the group also was a wearwolf. He had light brown hair, that was styled in a pompadour hairstyle, and piercing blue eyes. He wore a plain white T-shirt with a Mountain View letterman jacket and black jeans.
The three students chatted excitedly, unfortunately, even my enhanced ears couldn't pick up what exactly they were talking about.
Suddenly, a loud noise played over an intercom three times and the students all began to walk in different directions. The noise must have been the school bell, though it sounded different then I remembered.
The question is, where to now? I don't have a schedule so I can't go to a class but... I am at a school so where else is there.
I began searching the lobby area until I found a poster that read:
New to the school and looking to register?
Go down the left hall and enter the main office! Ms. Linda will get a schedule and locker situated for you!I followed the instructions and ended up in a small office-like room with a woman that looked to be in her mid-twentys or so. She had long red hair that was tied back with a rubber band into a ponytail. The name card that sat on her desk read that she was Ms. Linda Jakobs: Secretary.
She did not seem to see me standing by her desk, as she was busy typing on a computer, so I finally spoke up.
"Miss Linda? I am here for... registration." I said.
She looked up from the computer and gave me a warm smile, "Thank you so much for not calling me 'Miss Jakobs', it sounds too formal for my taste. I mean, I'm on a first name basis with you, why can't you be with me? Anyways, enough ranting. Registration, you said?"
"Yes. I'm new here." I responded.
"Alright then. What's your name, Sweety?" She asked.
"Campbell... Quin. Campbell Quinn." I said, making up a fake last name on the spot. I could not leave any traces of me being here. That is, if I even remembered my real last name, which I did not.
"Campbell Quinn..." Miss Linda said aloud as she typed, "You're a Freshman, right?"
"Uh... no... I am a Junior." I responded. It is understandable that she would think that I am a Freshman. Because of my... transformation, my body hasn't aged since I was 14.
"Oh! Sorry! Let's see here... uh... what electives would you like?" Miss Linda asked me.
"I don't really care." I responded. "Whatever is easiest."
"Well in that case..." Miss Linda trailed off as she reached for the phone on her desk, pressed a few buttons, and held it up to her ear. "Mrs. Avery, will you send Amber Miller to the main office for a minute please? ...Thank you!"
Miss Linda then set down the phone and turned back to me. "I'm sending down Amber Miller to act as your guide around the school. She's incredibly nice and I think that you two will get along great!" She said.
Just then, a girl wearing a baggy black T-shirt walked into the office. It took a moment for me to realize that it was the same girl that I saw earlier. She must be Amber.
"Hey, Miss Linda!" Amber said as she walked up to the desk.
"Hi, Amber!" Miss Linda responded. "How's school treating you?"
"Pretty good, actually! Beats being at home." Amber responded.
"That's good... So! I called you down here to act as a guide for Campbell, here who's transferring into the school. Since she didn't care about what classes she took and she's the same age as you, I copied yuour schedule and gave it to her so you could show her to all of your guy's classes! Does that sound alright?" Miss Linda asked Amber.
"Yeah that sounds... great!" Amber said. "Are we excused to go back to class?"
"Yes you are! Have a good rest of your first week back! Bye now!"
"Bye!" Amber responded and started to walk out of the office. "Come on." She said to me.
"Where are we going?" I ask her.
"First period." Amber says before pulling me out into the hallway.
