Chapter 1

Have you ever had that guy best friend that you've fallen for but just didn't know how to handle it? Because I know exactly how you feel. Here's me, Rylee Smith, to tell you the story on how I fell for my best friend.

Ok here's how it all started, it all started when I came to public school for the very first time my sophomore year of high school. As you can imagine it was terrifying for a private school kid like me. Big campus, tons of terrifying looking kids, grumpy teachers, and gross school lunches.

But the school itself isn't where the friendship developed it was all at the bus stop. This was scary for me to. I've never ridden a bus to school before. Not gonna lie I felt like I was getting on a Prison bus.

It was my first day of school and I did first day of school things. Took pictures, dressed in new clothes, be excited over the fact of a new school. But it was finally time for my dad to drive me to the bus stop.

It was terrifying for me being dropped off on a random street with a bunch of kids I didn't know.

I got out of my dads truck and said good bye. He drove off and there I stood with a bunch of random kids. They all looked at me strangely. I mean I would to if I grew up with the rest of them and then some girl just shows up.

There was 2 boys and 3 girls. It seemed they all had their clicks . 2 of the girl I found out later were Stephanie and Carla they became best friends because they were neighbors. 1 boy named Austin he I found out lived across from my neighbors house, he stood alone. And lastly the last boy and girl. The girl was named Annie and she lived one house down from me she seemed to enjoy coffee and music. Now for the boy. He was partly deaf. His name was mark. Him and Annie seemed to have been best friends for a while.

I was fascinated by him. I mean I am obsessed with deaf people and sign language so what can I say? It was bound to fascinate me. He was so different from the others and I was determined to find out more about him.
