Chapter One
I wish I was strong enough.
“So I’ll be, your life, your voice, your reason to be. My love, my heart, is beating for this, moment in time. I’ll find the words to say, before you leave me today.” I stood in the empty arena, looking up at the five talented boys singing out on the stage. I was looking at the five boys that made up One Direction. As they finished up singing Moments, I clapped, making an echo all around is. “That was perfect,” I complimented as my brother, Liam, helped me up on stage with them.
I followed the five guys backstage where they all let out breaths of relief. Any other girl would be freaking out right now, just to be alone with them, but it was just any other day for me. “So you liked it?” Liam asked me, his brown eyes and hair matching up identically with mine. I nodded, giving him a smile, wishing he would leave already. I looked over at Harry who flipped his floppy curls to the side, winking at me. Butterflies erupted in my stomach and I watched as the other boys slowly filed out one by one, leaving me and Harry alone at last. “I didn’t do so well out there,” he sighed, still gripping his microphone in his hands. “Please, you were extranordiharry,” I winked, making us both start to crack up. He put his hands on my waist and pulled me close to him. “You’re Mariegical,” he tried. I shook my head and kissed him on lips, feeling his smile on mine. “Let’s go!” Louis yelled, his voice making us stumble away from each other. I walked in front of Harry as we went to the car to go back home.
“You’re sleeping on the couch tonight!” Liam announced as the five boys and I walked into the big flat that we all lived in together. I had moved away from my parents house to live with Liam for only a month now. I wanted to get away from my parent’s strict rules, but I only found out that Liam has more rules than they even did. One of the biggest and hardest rules I had to follow was to not have any more than friends relationships with the boys. Currently, I was bending that rule a bit, but any one would bend the rules for Harry Styles right?
I groaned, glaring at Liam. Another thing I hated about this place, was that I didn’t even get to have my own room half of the time. “Is Paige coming over?” I guessed, making him smile at the sound of his girlfriend’s name. I liked Paige, her and I had become quick friends when her and Liam started to date. “Ooooo, get some.” Louis joked, thrusting his hips forward dramatically. “Why do I live with you people?!” Liam laughed. His face went from happy to serious in a matter of seconds as he leaned over the kitchen counter to come face to face with me. “You remember the deal right?” He reminded me. I rolled my eyes and nodded, “I don’t have a relationship with any of the guys, and I get to stay here.” I sighed. Liam nodded and flicked the end of my nose playfully, finally wandering off to his bedroom which we shared together. But after hearing what I questioned went on in there confirmed, I’d rather not sleep their anymore.
Later that night after Paige, Liam, Louis, Niall, and Zayn had retired to their rooms, Harry and I still lingered out in the main part of the flat alone at last. “Sit,” I patted the seat next to me on the couch, looking at Harry. He wore plaid pajama bottoms and a Jack Wills sweatshirt. “Me on your bed? Marie, we haven’t even had our first date yet.” Harry joked, grinning as he sat down next to me. I sighed, pulling the single cover over me. “According to Liam there won’t ever be a first date.” I said quietly. Harry lifted my head by putting two fingers under my chin. I looked into his electric green and grey eyes and swallowed hard. “What if he doesn’t have to know?” he whispered, a mischievous look on his face. “What if he found out?” I questioned, but I already knew the answer. I’d be kicked out of here, and Liam would hate Harry more than he probably would me. “He would never find out. As long as you trust me.” Harry said, more seriously. It’s not like these feelings we have for each other have just started. Our friendship bloomed in to something more the day Liam set down the laws that I couldn’t date one of them. So did I want him because I wanted to break the rules? Or was I really in love with his curls...that dimpled smile...the way he speaks so slow and seriously...the way he makes me laugh...obviously I loved him for him, and that was that.
“Of course I trust you.” I whispered, scared that at any moment Liam would burst out and find us so close. “Then I’ll tell you when to run off with me, you’ve just got to be ready.” Harry grinned. I nodded and felt excitement rushing through me quickly. Harry stood up when Liam’s door creaked open and he walked out quickly. I pulled my knees to my chest quickly and pretended to glare at Harry. “Goodnight.” I sang. Harry winked at me and walked away, Liam eyeing me once he was gone. “What? He’s annoying.” I covered up. He just smirked and snatched up his car keys. “I’m picking up something for Paige.” he said and left. I saw Harry come out of his room slowly and walk over. “Now.” he said simply. “What..?” I trailed off, but then I grinned and hopped up, letting him take my hand as I slid on my shoes. We ran out the door, my light brown hair flying behind me. Liam was halfway down the hallway. I stifled a giggle as we ran the other way, knowing that we’d most likely see Liam again at the elevators. But I was willing to take the risk. I was willing to take any risk, as long as I was with Harry.
