'She had her arms wrapped around my waist as she sobbed on my shoulder. I hugged her back whilst whispered soothing words.'

In case you're confuse let me tell you from the top.

It was two a.m. on a Saturday when my phone rang. I stirred in my sleep letting the call go into voicemail, but eventually it kept ringing so I decided to answer it.

"Hello?"

Sobs escaped from the other line. It wasn't just any sob, it was best friend's.

I shot up from my bed, fully awake. "Lo? Lo, what happened? Are you alright?"

"Drew, can you come here?"'

"I'm on my way."

I slid out of my covers and immediately dressed into a pair of jeans and a simple shirt before running down the street to Lola's.

I knocked on her door and she answered it before collapsing into my arms and crying her eyes out.

"Sweetie, it's alright. Shhh."

I closed the door and we sat down on her couch. She had her arms wrapped around my waist as she sobbed on my shoulder. I hugged her back whilst whispered soothing words.

Eventually, her sobs died down and she was ready to speak. "Lola, tell me what happened."

She breathed deeply before answering. "Chace, he dumped me."

Something inside me instantly snapped when she said his name. I tried to control myself and said, "When, where and how?"

"Today, over the phone."

'Over the phone? What a jerk!' I wanted to punch that guy's guts, cut of his man jewels and then  feed it to the sharks.

"Drew, I know you're thinking on how to get revenge on him. Please don't."

"Why? He deserves it!"

"Just don't. Okay?"

I sighed in defeated before heading towards the kitchen. "C'mon, I'll get you some ice cream."

She gave a half-hearted smile before standing up. "I'm sorry to call you at this kind of hour."

I turned my head before answering,"Honey, I'm your best friend. Best friends should be there for each other at all times."
