                        Dakota's POV
I wake up on a hard surface and wince. My eyes are still closed, but the pain in my head is unbearable. After 5 minutes of laying on the floor, I slowly open my eyes and look around. I realize that I'm in the living room and I get up. I'm about to walk upstairs when a tiny voice calls out to me.

"Koti! Koti! Koti!" The voice said. I looked around in the kitchen and found Piper sitting at the kitchen table eating Cherios. I run over to her and stand next to her. "Are you alright?!" I exclaim, scared that my father touched her.

"Yes. I saw you on the floor and I didn't wake you up because I thought you were sleeping!" She smiled and then took a look at my face. Her smile instantly dropped. "Koti! Who the hell gave you that black eye?! I'll kill them!"

I frowned at her and said, "If I tell you, you won't believe me for a second and I know it."

"Koti, you're my sister, I believe everything you say." She giggled. "Now, tell me who hurt my big sissy," she gritted though her teeth, clenching her small hands into fists.

"Okay," I sigh. "Your father came home drunk and hurt me. We can't be living here if I know he can hurt one of us. I will never let him put his hands on you, okay Piper?" I said seriously and looked her in her hazel eyes.

"Okay sissy. I believe you, but I'm shocked that he could do such a thing."

"Yea...I know. Now that I've told you, have you finished your homework from last night?" I said raising an eyebrow at her. I know Piper well enough and I know she barely does her homework which was me when I was her age.

"Uh...yea?" She said with a confused face.

I laughed and patted her back. "Either do it now or at the beginning of school. I mean it."

"Okay!" She said rolling her eyes. She got up from the kitchen table and put her empty bowl in the sink.

I quickly ran upstairs to wash my face and brush my teeth. I quickly hopped in the shower to wash off all the beatings from my dad and put on some black leggings, a white tee shirt, a black leather jacket, black converse, and I put my hair up in a simple messy bun. I grabbed my book bag and remembered that I hadn't done shit for homework. I groaned and ran back down the stairs.

Me and her both waited for Stephanie so she could drop Piper off at school. I didn't want to leave her by herself to wait for that skank, so I just stand at the door getting impatient.

15 minutes later

I've been waiting for this bitch and Piper is going to be late. Her school starts in 7 minutes and I don't have time to be waiting for Stephanie. Some help she is. "Piper?" I say.

"Yes?"

"I'm going to take you to school," I say and grab her hand and unlock the door. When I get outside I lock the door and start running with her to her school which is 5 minutes away. The rush of adrenaline gets me excited and I high-five Piper as we're running, smiling.

When we make it to the school, I sign her in and decide that it would be stupid to run all the way back to my house to get my motorcycle. Frustrated, I put in my earphones and listen to Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lavato.

I make it to school about 2 minutes late and rush up to my math class. I hear Mr. Nickolas taking roll, and I slip my way into the class without getting caught. I sit in my seat and find my self staring at him.. Evan. His pretty brown eyes and sharp jawline puts me in a gaze and I slouch over on my desk lost in his beauty and smarts. I wish I was as smart as him. He's got everything. Looks to kill, smarts to strike, and he's a hotty with some sort of body.
