i saw you in my dreams
at the dead of night.
when insomnia finally let me go
you came to take me away
you held my heart
and whispered sweet nothings
little did i know
you were toxic.
you held me in dark places
you told the demons
to take hold of me
so you could have me after.
when i was beaten down and empty
you swooped in
the sweetness and hope you gave me,
suddenly it all changed.
you were no longer
wearing a silk pink gown
it turned to black.
you turned into the one
i only saw in nightmares.
you were my nightmare
the one i couldn't wake up from.
you took my prisoner in my own mind.
i was scared to be awake
scared to sleep
scared to do anything.
you were everywhere.
i could see you in the morning,
you followed me around all day
i was on a chain and ball
trapped by you.
