~ in the back of an empty science room

"Well done, genius."

"Says the one! You're the one that had to go and open your stupid mouth!"

I am silent, and I flinch away from him. He's done it, he said the words. Although I say them to myself every day, it's different hearing them come from another person's mouth. He does not even notice what he's said and how it's affected me, and it makes me wonder how petty I must sound. I turn my body to face the window, an eye on the clock at the front. The detention should only last half an hour if Mr Parsons gets back at the time he promised he would.

I hear a chair scrape beside me and Andy stands up from his desk. "Where are you going?" I ask.

"To get a milkshake. You want one?"

     "No."

     "Sure?"

I look at the time. "What if you get caught?"

"Hes at the pavillion. No one will know. No one would knew if we went to Mcdonalds and back, as long as it was within lunch. Come on."

"Yeah, but we have to go past the pavillion in order to go through the back gate, and to Shake That."

"Stop worrying. You worry too much."

     "Sorry."

"Don't you apologise to me, okay? Just stop apologising."

     "Okay, sorry."
