"Skylar. Skylar." a hushed voice said.
I opened my left eye to see Lily, the youngest in the family at 9 years old, staring at me.
"Yes, Lily- Billy?" I ask opening both eyes and sitting up.
"I had a bad dream" She answers on the verge of tears.
I pushed my blankets to the side and pulled Lily into my bed. I covered us with the blankets and stroked her hair.
"Sky?" Lily asked using my nickname "Can you sing to me?"
I got out of bed and came back with my guitar. A brown, wooden acoustic guitar, it's simply beautiful and my pride joy.
I tuned it and started strumming Safe and Sound by Taylor Swift

"I remember tears streaming down
your face
when I said 'I'll never let you go'
When all those shadows almost killed
your light
I remember you said "don't leave me
here alone"
But all that's dead and gone and past
tonight

Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
Come morning light
No one can hurt you now
You and I'll be safe and sound"

After the first two stanzas she fell asleep so I put my guitar away and held her tears streaking down my face, because I remembered how my father used to to do this for me and I'd wake up in his strong arms feeling safe and sound.

(A/N sorry the chapter is so short the next one will be longer)
