"Aunt Marie! Im going to go to the town centre with Johnathon for a while! I'll be back for supper!" Edward calls up to his (fatally ill) aunt. "Okay," she whispers back, clutching her cup of water and taking a sip to hopefully clear her throat a little.
Inside the town centre was a small street surrounded by the biggest buildings and a clock tower. It was said that if one walked under that clock tower when the clock struck 3am on the 18th of october every leap year, they would see the dead. Edward, being told many times that his mom died when he was very young, was eager to see if this phenomenon was true or just a lie to scare kids and keep them from leaving their houses at night, he was determined to see, and to communicate with, his supposedly diseased mother.
So on that night, the 18th of october 1296, 16 year old Edward and his lifelong pal, Johnathon set off to the town centre. He looked up at the abnormally large clock, it was 2:58am, he took some steps closer to the clock, Johnathon, not far behind, tracing his footsteps. It was now 2:59am, Edward and Johnathon were now directly under the west face of the clock tower, dawdling under the huge tower. The clock struck 3am, nothing changed. "What a pile of shit.. how pointless was this?" Exclaimed Johnathon, kicking the walls of the tower with all his might. But then the clock struck 3:01, and first little balls of light flashed past both their naked eyes, then bigger entities, each paranormal being greater in size than the last. "We are here to speak to Miss Rosemary Elizabeth Jackson." Edward shouts, staring up at the biggest, cyclops size spirit. "Who? Shes not dead... theres no one in the afterlife with that name.." a quiet, squeaky voice explains. Edward and Johnathon look around, wondering where that voice came from. An adorably small, redhead girl ghost emerges from behind the Giant's ankle. Even though her appearance was as translucent as it could get, you could still see her freckles and emerald green eyes. "But, if you want... we could help you find her, right, Maxwell?" She said, staring up at the mammoth cyclops. "Yeah, i-i guess..." he stuttered, meekly, taking what he would class as a small step back.
And so, their journey began. They only had until sunrise. And it was already 3:07am. Will they find Edward's mother? Or will her living state always remain a memory?
