Kira
After a good ten minute walk down the street, I had finally reached my destination. Millennium dance studio. I presumed Sean hadn't arrived yet, since the main room was empty, so I waited patiently inside for him.
I always admired this studio. It was so spacious and to just be standing in it made me feel so free and relaxed for some reason. I watched my reflection in the mirror in front of me and soon realised my feet were moving. Like they had their own minds, they dragged me across the floor and soon my arms followed in suit.
I started doing Sean's choreo to 'Wrong' from the other day. No music, just me, myself and I. As I spun my body around, still following the choreo, I felt a firm grasp onto my forearm. I was pulled into the figure, our bodies hovering on each other and found myself rolling my head back slowly, as part of the choreo.
We continued to dance the piece, watching ourselves in the mirror simultaneously hitting the moves in sync. There was no music, just the sounds of our heavy breathing. But I kind of enjoyed it.
"Maybe you and I should've danced that together", he commented, trying to catch his breath steadily.
"Sean, I literally didn't see you come in", I huffed.
"Well, surprise", he winked at me, revealing the signature dents on either side of his cheeks.
He walked over to the sound system, plugging the aux into his phone.
I awkwardly waited for him to speak again, since I sucked at small talk.
"You ready?", he asked me, with a slight grin on his bright face.
I gulped.
After a few moments of silence between the two of us, "Do U Dirty" by Kehlani played on the surround sound.
I found myself smiling at Sean who was moving his head and shoulders to the beat of the song.
"When you see the good in me...", he shyly sang along, which only made my smile wider than it already was.
"You like that?" he stopped.
My smile dropped. Did he just notice the way I was admiring him? Was it really that obvious? Cringing right now.
"The song?", he continued.
I sighed.
"Oh"
I nodded, applauding his choice in music.
I figured this was what we were going to dance to for our duet. My duet with Sean Lew. Wow.
"So I was thinking maybe you could start the piece off, you know, do some of your own movement for like the first two counts of eight and then when the first beat drops, I'll walk into the frame"
I carefully listened to his directions, as it seemed like he wasn't going to repeat anything twice.
It kind of intimidated me, already feeling the anxiety rush through my body. First five minutes in and already he wanted me to freestyle under pressure like that. Which I hated more than anything. Great.
The song played from the top, Sean leaving me in the middle of the floor to do my thing. I felt his eyes on me.
Here goes nothing...
