*knock knock knock*

I instantly wake up at the sound of someone knocking on the door.  I look over to find the clock to see what time it is.  It is almost 11.  I am always up by 7, I guess I was more exhausted than I had thought.

"Sweetie its just me, Sally" the older woman calls out from the other side of the door. "I thought that you might wants something to eat"

I guess I fell asleep while debating what I should do last night.  I considered running off of whosever land I stumbled onto, but then wandered if I could even make it off considering how fatigued I had become.

"You can come on it!" I call out to sally.

The door handle clicks before the door swings open to reveal Sally carrying a tray of food.

"I hope you don't mind, but you looked like you could use a meal.  I cant imagine how it must feel to be in the situation that you are in."

I let out a small laugh at Sallys words.

"You have no idea." Sally sends me a small smile.  "thank you for this."

"It's nothing dear." Sally says as she sits the tray down on a small table that is accompanied by two chairs.

I pick up a muffin and start to pick at it.  I always have loved muffins, especially chocolate chip.

"So what is a young girl like you doing out on her own as a rogue?"

"Its a long story. the short version is my dad disowned me and I ran the first chance that I got"

something about this shewolf makes me feel that I can trust her, that I can open up.

"That's awful. I can't imagine going through that. How long have you been on your own?"

"Yesterday was five years." I sale with a small pained smile.

I can almost still feel the silver burning my neck.

"Oh my gosh. How old are you sweetie?"

"I turned 18 a few months ago."

"I'm sure that our Alpha would let you join if you would like. Our pack is one of the stronger ones. Right now we are in a small human town that is next to one of our borders. The only reason I am here is to keep watch over the town and make sure that the humans stay out of our business. Several pack members actually work in this town. It's how we earn some of the money for the pack!"

Join a pack?

Liz perks up at the mention of a pack. Liz is my wolf by the way.

She starts to stir around just at the mention of this pack. But would the Alpha even allow me to join? Would I want to even?

Liz snaps at the thought.

She has been on edge more lately.  Maybe joining a pack wouldn't be so bad.  It could help calm her down, give her what she needs.

"That sounds great Sally.  I'll think about what you said.  I didn't know that y'all monitored this area.   I try to stick to human grounds."

"It happens occasionally.  It's been a fairly recent happening, only about the last six years we have been doing it. A few rouges still stumble across here.  Most are just lost or running like you are."

'We're close' Liz pops into my head.

"I'll consider it.  I usually just try to keep moving and avoid other wolves all together."

It's not healthy.  Liz has been getting more and more restless.  She has started saying things that don't really make sense.   The other day she was babbling about finding them.

"I think you would like it here.  Even though we have a rap about being ruthless, we really are a good pack." She smiles as she gets up straining her skirt. "I'm going to go back down.  Just let me know if you need anything."

"I will.  Thank you again Sally!"

I miss pack life.
