I woke up and groaned at the pain in my head, it felt like a little person was hammering away with a sledge hammer trying to break free. My dad who was sitting in the chair next to me stood up, gently placing a hand on my forehead he frowned.

"You're warm..." I didn't feel warm. He sighed pressing the call button so the doctor could run more tests to figure out what in the bloody hell was going on. "I'm sorry J.J." I smiled softly.

"Its not your fault dad." His frown turned into a slight smile before falling again.

"Maybe not, but I still don't like my baby girl sitting in a hospital bed." I sat up and hugged him. He gently hugged me back. I let go and let my body fall back onto the hospital bed.

My mom burst through the door not long after holding a coffee. "Hey, Dylan the hy-" she looked up and stopped mid sentence. I'll ask her about that. "You're awake!" She set her coffee on the table by the door and jogged over to me hugging me as softly as she could muster.

"Yep. So what were you saying when you came in?" She paused before regaining her composure. She looked at my dad intently before returning her gaze to me.

"Oh nothing important." I decided to brush it off for now. If she wasn't comfortable telling me I w asnt going to force her to.

"Tyler. Can I speak to you outside please?" My dad asked my mom. She nodded and turned to me while grabbing her coffee.

"Ash is arguing with the doctor about bringing you in some water. They both should be in soon." She turned around walking out the door my dad held open for her. I tried to focus my hearing on what they are saying only for my head to pound harder than it already was. Screw it.

I turned on the tv and Harry Potter the Philosopher's Stone began playing through the tv. As the frog came to life and hoped away the door opened and in walked ash with a look of triumph on his face as he held up water. "I got it." I smiled grabbing the water out of his hand as he brought it over.

I drank almost half of the tall glass before handing it back to ash so he could set it down. "Thank you. Also, were our parents out there?" Ash thought for a moment before shaking his head. Why are they acting so weirdly? "Wait, are you eating tomato soup?" He paused with his cheeks full of tomato soup, he swallowed his cheek full and offered the spoon to me. "I'm good."

"Suit yourself." Dive bombing back into his soup I continued to watch harry potter. "I'm going to go get something to drink... And maybe some more tomato soup." I nodded resting my head on the pillow. As he opened the door I could hear the loud footsteps of my dad and my mom's voice.

"Do you really think she's going to get better Dylan? Because I don't! Just because some rowdy group of 5 shows up she's magically going to be fixed? I love her just as much as you do but I don't think shoving them in her face is going to help an-" the door shut with a subtle click and I couldn't hear my mom or dad talk anymore. I sighed getting lost in my own thoughts of what my mother had just said 'magically going to be fixed.'

I waited for the doctor to come in, I tried not to think about the conversation my parents were having considering my illness, whatever illness it is. I have been through the entirety of the first harry potter movie and half of the second, ash feel asleep towards the end of the first movie. It's hard to hear the movie over his snoring and occasional mumbling.

The door opened and in stepped my doctor. Dr. Rye is tall has short black hair brown eyes and very pale. Most of the people in my dad's clan were pale unless they got a spray tan. "Hello again Justice. How are you doing today?"

"Oh just dandy. Waiting to be'magically fixed' think you can do that doc?" Dr. Rye looked between my parents and I. My mom's face paled as she looked frantically at my father and I.

"You don't understand the context of the situation J.J." she became flustered as she tried to explain what she meant by the meaning behind 'magically fixed' my dad rested a hand in her shoulder stopping her from her ramblings.

"Elliot. May I speak with my daughter and wife please?" Elliot or 'Dr. Rye' nodded leaving the room. Dad sat on the side of the bed and sighed.

"There are certain people coming to New York. They aren't normal in the sense that they are special. Well I had thought that maybe them showing up would help your condition, we don't care if your illness is, fixed or cured. We just don't want you to live the rest of your life like this.... I'm sorry. We are sorry.." I groaned sighing I looked at my mom who was sitting on the side of my bed playing with her hands whole looking down at them. Reaching over I gently hugged her.

"Its okay... I'm sorry I should have asked more questions instead of just being a brat about it..." I let go and gently lowered myself back onto my bed. As my dad began to speak a knock at the door snapped him out of his thoughts. He got up and cracked the door open slightly.

"Hello, Mr. Spade?" My dad nodded asking for the man to continue. "I'm Cody General. The beta of The United. Faye couldn't make it at this moment but from my understanding you called us here to discuss a person of interest?" My dad stepped outside closing the door.

The United? Who are they?
