Chad
I sat in my room, emailing Amara. It was warm, the start of summer, and I was looking forward to three months of talking to Amara. I had no plans for the summer, and my parents were pretty relaxed about that sort of thing.
Amara: We need to meet up some time!
Chad: I agree, I'm dying to meet you!
Amara: Yeah, someday, eh?
Chad: What are you doing for summer?
Amara: Nothing really. You?
Chad: I don't know, but sitting here and talking to you seems like a nice idea.
Amara: My parents are away for the summer so I have the house to myself.
Chad: Throw a party!
Amara: More like read all night!
Chad: That does sound like you alright.
Amara: Yeah, and I'll put on some really loud music too. I'm just that wild.
Chad: Ooh it's a bad girl.
Amara: But I'll be all alone :-(
Chad: Get some hot guys to keep you company ;-)
Amara: Tobias, Augustus and the gang.
Chad: So you're home alone all summer?
Amara: Pretty much
That's when it hit me. I should surprise her by going over! She would love it! I could spend the summer with her! It would be so cool! My parents would hardly mind, and she'd be fine. I began throwing stuff into a suitcase, and a smile lit up my face.
Chad: Sorry, I can't talk now. I'll text you in about six hours, I'm really busy
I quickly went online and booked a flight to Exeter airport. It was about forty five minutes from where she lived, and I'd text her as we landed. I'd make up some lame excuse, and when she realises it's me...
I went downstairs and quickly told my mom. She was happy I was doing someone and used her credit card to get me the ticket. I took my passport and my savings, which was a lot of money, grabbed my suitcase and left. My mom drove me to the bus stop and I got the first bus to Dublin, all the while imagining Amara's responce.
The bus trip took two hours, and when I signed it I waited just past security for another two hours. I decided to get her flowers, remembering that she liked purple roses above the rest. Just to be nice I got her a book too. And a neat little bow, so that I could stick it on my head and say I was a present.
When they called me to board the flight I was ecstatic. I wasn't a particularly spontaneous person anyway, so this was huge. I took my seat, next to the window, and set a timer on my phone to go off when there were forty-five minutes to touchdown. I closed my eyes to go for a quick nap.
After what felt like no time, my alarm went off. I quickly sent the text.
Hey! I sent something on an aeroplane for you. Should arrive soon. Go to airport to pick it up as soon as is possible please. Love~Chad
I smiled as it delivered, before standing up to go bathroom. In forty-five minutes, I would be meeting with Amara! It was amazing. I couldn't keep the smile from my face.
I stared out the window eagerly until it was time to touch down. I was absolutely hyper. I checked my phone. Amara had replied.
Okay, en route now. Excited to find out. Is it a book? You know me well enough, I trust you! Love~Amara
I was grinning like a fool as the plane landed. I put the bow on over my blonde hair and grabbed my backpack as I exited the plane. I went and got my suitcase, before grabbing a slip of paper and writing a quick note.
For Amara: The real present is over by the exit. Love~Chad
I stuck it hastily on top of the book and out it on a seat. She'd see it easily. I picked up the flowers and stood by the exit. I was absolutely beaming.
She walked in the other side. I was shocked, breathless. I had never realised she looked this... Beautiful. She wore jeans and a TFIOS t-shirt, her hair plain and simple. It was an amazing blonde, and her eyes were striking, even across a crowded room. Her smile shot tingles down my spine. My jaw literally dropped.
She noticed the book and picked it up with a smile. The note fell to the floor, and she didn't notice it. She took out her phone, just as mine pinged with a message.
Aww, thanks Chad. Seems like a good book. Love~Amara
I was panicking. I replied quickly.
Go to the bathroom before your car. Wait five minutes.
I was nervous as a look of confusion crossed her face, but she left for the bathroom and I darted for her blue mini. She had mentioned it a few times before. I leaned against it and held the roses in my hand.
About three minutes later, she walked out the exit and towards me and her car.
Amara
I had the book in my hand as I walked towards my car. He was so nice! I glanced up to check if I was going in the right direction, and saw someone staring at me, leaning against my car.
I was worried. I took a deep breath and sped up, staring at my feet. I stopped beside the car, still looking at the ground.
"Could you move?" I asked politely, "This is my car."
"Amara!" Chad's voice said, "It's me!"
I was shocked as I looked up. It was Chad! His blonde hair fell perfectly, his blue eyes were caring, his face lit up in a smile. I wrapped my arms around him and squeezed tight. It was a perfect moment, and it took all my strength to pull away. He had a bow on his head and flowers in his hand.
He handed me the flowers, my favourite purple roses, and I leaned in to hug him again, but he leaned in at the same time, and our eyes met. He put a hand on my cheek and leaned in half ways, so we were almost nose-to-nose. I leaned in just that little bit further, and our lips connected. His hand was on my cheek, and I wrapped an arm around his back.
Our lips moved together, and his were incredibly soft, and tasted like jam. It was a perfect moment, and I closed my eyes. He turned the kiss into a little more as he wrapped an arm around my waist and we came together, leaving no space between out bodies. I kissed back forcefully, and after a moment we were breathless, and pulled apart.
We stared at each other for a moment, and I noticed the suitcase. I opened the backseat and helped him shove it in, before climbing into the drivers seat. He walked to the far side and got into the passengers seat.
That kiss... Sparks flew. I'd read about that sort of thing in books, but it was just... Amazing. I was so confused. We were best friends, how could we kiss?! It wasn't right. I wasn't sure how to feel. But I was smiling as I pulled the car out and began the trip home.
