Chad
I sat next to her in the car, speechless and happy. I was grinning from ear to ear. She was just... Wow. She was amazing. I liked her. A lot.
She looked beautiful as she stared at the road, driving through the light traffic. It was about five. I was beginning to get hungry, but that didn't matter. She was the only thing that mattered.
"So, um, can I stay with you for the summer?" I asked hopefully, "I'll be a good house guest! Promise."
"Sure!" she said excitedly, "For definite! It will be cool. What do you want to do for dinner?"
"Let's go out for pizza." I suggest, not adding that it could be a date, "And we can talk. It's amazing to meet you in person."
"You too." She said with a smile, "I can't believe you did this!"
"What can I say?" I laughed, "I'm spontaneous and wild!"
"I'll need time to move around my busy schedule." She said, "I'm supposed to be reading right now."
"I guess you'll have to spend more time not reading." I said jokingly, "So we can do more stuff."
"You mind if I put in a CD?" She asked in her cute British accent, "Don't want to use up all our conversation! You can relax until we reach the house."
She put in a CD and I leaned back. This was so amazing! She was here, next to me, humming along to some song in her adorable British accent, and I kissed her! I was awestruck. Amazed. She had kissed me! She looked deep in thought as we drove. I just closed my eyes and thought about the kiss.
"Chad!" Amara called, "We're here!"
It seemed like no time at all, but I got out of the car and grabbed my suitcase from the back. I followed her into the house. I'd seen pictures of it, but it was a lot homier, more welcoming, friendlier. I was smiling as she unlocked the front door and led me inside.
"Up the stairs and to the right is the guest room. I'm up the stairs and to the left." She said with a smile, "First door, can't miss it."
I thanked her before dragging my stuff up the stairs. I opened the door and stepped inside. There was a double bed, bookshelves, a wardrobe and a beanbag. There was a door leading off to an en suite bathroom, and the whole room was decorated in shades of blue and green.
I hung my clothes in the wardrobe, and out my other things into place around the room, before using the bathroom and getting changed.
I turned on my laptop, connected to the wifi, and sent her a message.
Chad: THANKS!!!!
Amara: What was I supposed to do, turn you away?
Chad: I like it here, and, um... The kiss?
Amara: I think that was a bit of a mistake. We're best friends!
Chad: Okay, yeah. Makes sense.
Amara: I'm going to get changed. See you in a minute.
I wasn't sure what I felt. It was sad, but... more somehow. Devastating. But who wants to throw away four years of friendship on one kiss?
AMARA
I told him the kiss was nothing. But that wasn't true... It'd been something, but I didn't want to tell him in case he didn't feel the same way.
I got changed quickly and grabbed my bag. I walked across the landing and knocked on his door.
"Let's go!" He said with a smile as he turned off the light and shut the door. It was just past six.
We got into my car and drove to the pizza place in town. It was big enough, and we got a table straight away. We looked through the menus for a minute before ordering.
"Two margarita pizzas please." Chad said with a smile, but something in his face looked sad, "A fanta, a sprite and onion rings."
We got our food began eating. It was delicious, and all I could think about was our legs touching under the table, and the way his lips moved when he ate.
"This place is good." He said with a smile when we were done, "I'll go pay and maybe we can go for ice cream?"
"Split the bill, I've got money too." I suggested as I went to get my purse out.
Chad leaned over and put his hand on mine, pushing my purse back into my bag. He smiled and took out his own money, and went up to the counter to pay. I stood up, blushing and followed him to the door.
"Where's the best ice-cream in town?" He asked with a grin as we exited into the cool evening. It had been warm earlier and I wasn't dressed for it, in an All Time Low t-shirt, and wrapped my arms around myself.
Chad noticed and quickly took off his hoodie, wrapping it around my shoulders. It was warm... And smelt nice.... And was comfortable and soft... But it left him in a t-shirt.
"I can't take your hoodie." I said with a scowl as I tried to shrug it off, but he held it tight around my shoulders.
"It's called chivalry, I think you'll find." He said with a laugh, "And I'm a gentleman."
I sighed but left it, and led him down to the ice-cream stand I always go to. It's pretty big, and has all the good flavours. Chad took a moment to inspect the flavours before getting chocolate, and I went for mint chocolate chip.
He payed again, and we began walking back to where my car was parked. We are in silence, and were finished by the time we reached the car.
"That..." He said with a smile, "Was the nicest ice cream I have had in a long time!"
"It's good stuff." I agreed as we got into the car, "But chocolate is a bit predictable. You should've gone with lime and chilli, or something else completely crazy."
"Yes..." He trailed off with a smile, "I'm completely unpredictable though."
"How so?" I asked with a laugh, "Other than randomly flying to England in order to meet me."
There was silence as we reached my house and got out. We went into the house. I gave him a quick tour.
"I think I'm going to catch forty winks now." I said with a yawn, "I'll see you in the morning."
He nodded, pulled me in for a hug, and kissed me on the cheek. It was in a friendly way, but made me smile all the same.
"Goodnight!" He called as he crossed the hall to his room, "Sleep tight! Don't let the bedbugs bite! Sweet dreams!"
I was grinning from ear to ear as I closed my door.
