Four Years Earlier....

I look around the classroom I’m in to see several students take notes as the teacher drones on, others doze off in the back, while the rest pass notes to theirs friends. Okay well, maybe it’s just me and my friends. I look back at Kaelie as she tosses the folded piece of paper onto my desk before opening it up. It reads: Party at Mason’s tonight. U in or nah?

I look at her incredulously before writing: Do u really have to even ask? Yes, I’m in.

She reads it quickly, smirks, and passes it over to Dace who quickly responds with a nod before throwing the paper into the trashcan. Shortly after the bell rings  we gather up our stuff and head to our next class.

The day carries on uneventfully and finally ends. I hurriedly go to my locker, grab what I need, head out to my car, get in and go home. Once inside, I go up to my room, go to my closet, and pick out a loose, flowy black tank top that says HU Army across it, red leggings and black wedge boots. Next, I take a shower, get out and curl my hair. Once that’s done, I get dressed and grab my phone, keys and purse before leaving.

I yawn as I watch several bodies dancing and grinding on the dancefloor. I glance around to see Kaelie, no where to be found, so I decide to just go home. Pushing myself off of the wall, I slowly wander through the large swarm of bodies to get to the front door. Once I finally get past, I go out and head towards my car. I pause as I hear a familiar voice calling out. “Lydia! Lydia, wait up!”

I turn and see Dace running towards me and stop. I raise an eyebrow as he approaches and wait for him to catch his breath before asking. “Can I help you?”

“You leaving already?”

I nod. “Yeah. I didn’t really have anyone to talk to, so I’m just gonna go home.”

“What about Kaelie?”

I shrug. “I don’t know where she went. She’s probably with Mason somewhere.”

“Oh. Well you could have found me and talked to me.”

“I guess.”

“Come back inside with me? I didn’t really have anyone to talk to either.”

“Or we could go watch Netflix at my house with Mountain Dew and brownies...?” I reply, hopefully.

He smiles widely. “That sounds a lot more fun than this.”

I laugh. “Okay. I’ll meet you at my house.”

“Alright. See you there.”

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wake up curled up into Dace’s side with his arm draped around my waist. I look up to see his head leaned back on the couch as he sleeps, snoring softly with his lips slightly parted. I get up, careful not to stir him before shutting off the TV and clean up our mess. After I’m done, I go upstairs and take a shower before putting on some blue pajama pants, a blue cutoff shirt and a white tank top. Then I go downstairs to see Dace just waking up. I smile and say, “Morning.”

He blinks at me, yawns, then replies. “Good Morning.”

“Want breakfast?”

“That’d be amazing.”
