CHAPTER FOUR: Make Her Pay
Dace
She left. Just like that, she’s just gone. After all the work and effort I put into keeping her happy, and she just leaves. I loved her, she was supposed to be mine forever. Now I’ll have to teach her a lesson, show her who’s boss. Make her pay for disobeying me.

Dread fills me as I stare at my alarm clock, willing it to make time go back, but it doesn’t. I haven’t seen or talked to Dace since the break up, and I’m not exactly excited to see him again. As I debate on going or staying, I pull myself out of bed, and go take a shower. After I pull on a pair of black leggings, black boots, and a sweater, then leave for school. When I arrive I see Kaelie and Mason waiting patiently as I approach. They both smile and Kaelie pulls me into a hug, “Hey hon, you okay?”
I nod, and pull away from her.”Have you guy’s seen him yet?”
Kaelie glances over at Mason, before they both shake their head. “No, no one’s heard from him either.”
“Hopefully he isn’t hurt,” I reply, biting my lip worriedly.
“Didn’t you dump him?” Mason suddenly asks.
“Yeah, so?” I ask, confused.
“So, why do you care?”
“Because I’m not heartless, and just cause we broke up, doesn’t mean I hate him.”
“So why did you?” He asks.
“He was too controlling.”
“Dace? He could hardly control a dog, let alone his girlfriend,” Mason snorts.
“You’d be surprised by what people can hide from you,” I reply, before turning and walking away.

Dace
I calmly watch as Lydia walks away from Kaelie, and Mason. I wait until she’s out of their sight then walk up behind her and slipping both arms around her. Her body tenses before she slowly turns, her brown eyes widening as she see’s me, then slightly narrow. In a cool, neutral tone she says. “Hello Dace.”
“Lydia. Have you come to your senses yet or are you still continuing on with this foolishness?”
“I came to my senses the second I dumped you. Now if you could excuse me, that’d be great,” she replies, attempting to walk away from me.
I grab her arm and yank her back, and shove her into a locker. She gasps and her eyes raise to mine in shock. I glare down at her, my jaw clenching. “Did I say you could walk away?”
“I don’t need your permission to do anything,” she snaps at me, trying to jerk away. I tighten my hold on her as the bell rings, keeping her in place. “Let go. I need to get to class.”
“Not until I decide we’re done talking,” I growl out.
“There’s absolutely nothing left to say! Nothing you say or do can make me come back to you.”
I continue to glare down at her for another moment before releasing her. “This discussion isn’t over.”
“We’ll see,” she scoffs, straightening her closes, and stomping to class.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I listen, from where I standing next to Lydia’s car, as the final bell rings, signaling the end of the day. Another few minutes pass before she finally comes out, alone, and freezes at the sight of me. I smile broadly, and run over to help her with her things, but she backs away once I get close, narrowing her eyes at me. “What are you doing here?”
“Um, I go to school here, and is it a crime to visit your girlfriend?” I ask, raising an eyebrow.
“Moved on to the next victim that quickly?” She snaps.
“What do you mean?” I furrowing my eyebrows in confusion.
“We’re not together. So unless you found someone new, you don’t have a girlfriend.”
“Lydia, this isn’t funny anymore. Let’s just hurry up and go,” I reply, gently tugging on her arm.
“Let go. I’m not going anywhere with you,” She growls, jerking her arm away from my grip.
Losing my temper, I take both her arms in my hands, and push her into the wall, causing her bag, and books to fall to the ground with a bang. Her head shoots up, and her eyes meet mine. Fear floods into her eyes, as anger fills my own, “I’ve had enough with your games. Pick up your things and get into the car. Now.”
I let her go, and watch as she gathers her things, trembling slightly. She straightens up, and looks up at me, a guarded look in her eyes. I gently place a hand on the small of her back and guide her over to her car. I take her things, and place them in the back seat before going around and sliding in the driver seat. She gets in and looks down at her hands. With a sigh I reach over and grab her hand and pull it closer to me. Her whole body stiffens, frustrating me more, so I let out an exasperated sigh and say. “Stop this.”
She raises her eyes to mine, and studies them for a moment, before calmly she replies. “Stop what?”
“You know exactly what I’m talking about, Lydia. You aren’t supposed to fear me. You’re supposed to love me!” I exclaim.
“Love you?” She questions, her eyes narrowing slightly.
“Yes! Love me! The way I love you!”
“And exactly how did you come to this conclusion? At which point in the previous relationship that we had did you think that controlling every aspect of my life should cause me to love you? I could never love someone as cold and-” She’s cut off by a loud slapping noise. Her head whips to one side, and her hand follows, before landing on her cheek. Tears well up in her eyes as she stares at me, and in a voice, barely above a whisper she finishes. “heartless as you.”
We stare at each other for a long time, before I look away from her, and just get out of the car.
