Madison's POV

I sat in the backseat of the car while Rachel talked about Allison. I couldn't concentrate on everything she was saying. I couldn't stop thinking about what Avery had whispered, then how she explained it. That's impossible, she has to be out of her mind. The look on her face told me she was telling the truth which made me think she was even more crazy.

I had such a great time and she had to ruin it with that. How could she be so selfish? She knew exactly what she was doing and she knew I had a boyfriend. Idiot.

There's just something about her that makes me not want to be mad at her though. She was just so warm and sweet and child-like, I just couldn't hate her.

But I did.

"Are you even listening to me?" Rachel asked me angrily.

"I'm sorry Rach. I heard most of it, I promise." She stared at me then sighed.

"Since I know those two up there are listening, you and I will be talking tonight." I began nodding but Mom spoke.

"Not too long, you know you have to be at school tomorrow." I sighed, don't remind me. "I don't know why she won't say it now, she'll tell me later anyway. How else you think we know so much?" I shrugged, that's true. But I wasn't going to tell her this. It's just weird. What kind of person falls at first sight? You only hear that on TV. Like Hallmark and LMN.

"C'mon, you can tell us." Aunt Cassie said. I sighed.

"If you're thinking you to want to leave Gabriel for her, it's one hundred percent okay, I understand." Mom said and I laughed a little, rolling my eyes.

"After one day? I would never. Gabriel and I are extremely happy the way we are." She scoffed.

"Why aren't you texting him now, like usual?" I sighed and looked out of the window, not answering her. My mind is everywhere else right now. I can't talk to him, he wouldn't understand.

"I had an amazing night tonight, really, it was fun. Avery is hilarious and I learned a lot about her. I thought her and I would be great friends. I mean, I knew she had a crush on me, but I wanted to look past that. She knows I don't feel the same. But then when we were walking out, I gave her a hug and she mumbled something about already being in love with me–" Mom gasped and Aunty Cassie cooed, while Rachel laughed. "Anyway, that's super weird guys, I had only seen her once before today. She was talking about love at first sight. It freaked me out and I left."

"Oh honey, at least she's being honest. I don't think she meant to tell you. I mean, she was so sweet and you two had so much fun. I like her. She's such a cutie!" I threw my head back on the seat. I've been dating Gabriel for months and after one day of meeting this girl she likes her. The girl's freaking weird!

"I don't see why." I groaned exasperatedly. I don't even see how she could fall in love with ME that quickly. I'm a regular girl!

"I like her too Maddie." Rachel told me. I thought about the nickname Avery had given me and smiled a little then stopped myself. I furrowed my eyebrows, mad at myself and them.

"You guys are so confusing. You honestly don't like Gabriel either." She sighed.

"He's super whiney and wants you to do whatever he wants. He just doesn't seem like the guy for you. I know you muted your phone because of him, you didn't even see me text you. You obviously wanted to hang out with Avery. Because for once, someone is doing something with you and you're both really enjoying it." I groaned.

"Duh, and this is why I wanted to be her friend. Anyway, yes I muted my phone but that's only because it's rude to talk to your boyfriend around someone who loves you. It just felt weird and uncomfortable." Rachel raised her eyebrow.
