That song was just on. It's the one that nine times out of ten will make me change the station. It's not a bad song. Not at all. In fact, it's one of my favorite songs, or would be if it didn't trigger a certain set of memories. Well, just the one memory really. I'm a little older now than I have ever been. The kind of older where you know your best years are behind you. The kind of older where you know you've had your opportunities. That's what this song does. It reminds me that there was a time, when it felt like anything could roll my way and something surely was. Mostly it flashes a single image in my brain. A beautiful sunny day, warm. And a pretty girl. I loved her and she loved me. She was laughing, in her bright yellow shirt and blue jeans. I was taking her in and knowing. Why that image should leech itself to that song is anybody's guess. I hear it and it makes me think that maybe that day was a day I was truly happy. Maybe the last time I was truly happy. That pretty girl is gone. I let her slip away. Something else that song reminds me of. So every time I hear it, I turn it off. Well, nine times out of ten. Anyway, I'm moving. I'm not getting any younger, like I said. Gonna try for a fresh start, late in the game. Place called Hemisphere. Don't know much about it, but it seems like a nice town.
