Mr. Barley

I haven't been going to school.

I know I should, but I don't want to.

Everyone looks at me differently, including the teachers.

They don't even yell at me. I don't do anything but sit there, when I do go, and they don't even try to get me to pay attention. They'll come over to me and tell me all the work I've missed. But while they're talking, they seem so much more friendlier than usual. It's annoying.

They all do it.

Except Mr. Barley.

I don't know if you remember him, but he's my gym teacher.

I only jog at the beginning of class like everyone else, but after that I just go and change again.

Playing sports of any kind reminds me of you too much.

But back to Mr. Barley.

After I don't go to school for a couple days, and then randomly show up, he always seems to do a retake. But then he'll just kind of smile, and he'll say,

"Nice seeing you, Todd."

And that's it.

And I think that's all I need to hear.
