we're just two ghosts standing in the place of you and me

"What seems to be the problem?"

"Well-"

Trisha felt the phone being ripped out of her hand. She turned to look around.

"I'm sorry, but everything's alright now. Goodbye." Zayn hung up. He was furious. "Mum! What is wrong with you?"

"Z-Zayn, I'm just trying-"

"To help? Well, guess what? I don't need any help! I'm completely fine!"

"Zayn, you don't understand..."

"No, mum, you don't understand! I was joking!"

Trisha stared at her son. "What?"

Zayn sighed. "Mum, I know Justin wasn't real." Trisha narrowed her eyes. "I-I was alone, and Liam didn't even talk much. S-so I made Justin up. I'm sorry, I tried making myself believe he was real, and you, and Liam, and Niall and Louis and Harry."

Trisha paused. "Zayn, it's okay if you need help-"

"God, mum, I just told you I lied to you and you're stuck on the thought of me being a retard?" Zayn spat. He was trying so hard.

"If you were really joking, why would you cause so much ruckus? As far as I know, no one panics like that for a joke." Trisha fired back. Zayn blanked out for a moment, but quickly regained his voice.

"Well, I guess I'm a great actor! And acting doesn't even touch the boundary of being insane!"

Trisha sighed, and slumped down on the chair.

"Mum, please believe me. I was lonely." Zayn pleaded. She stayed quiet for some time, accessing the situation.

Everything was repeating itself. It's like someone rewinded everything to that day.

"Okay." Trisha nodded, knowing last time wasn't a very pretty situation.

Zayn's eyes lit up. "Okay?"

"Yeah, Zayn, I believe you." Trisha got up and hugged him. "I know you aren't lying." She lied.

Zayn bit his lip. "Thanks, mum. I knew I could trust you."

Trisha sat across Dr. Christie, anxiously waiting for her to say something. Dr. Christie looked at the papers in her hand, and after a long sigh, she looked up and said,

"I must say, his hallucinations are very powerful."

Trisha bit her lip. "He wont want to see you, doctor."

Dr. Christie gave her a knowing smile. "Happens. Don't worry, I can get him to open up."

Trisha simply nodded, not knowing what to say. She just wanted her son to be normal.

"It's alright, Trisha. He'll be alright. Just have a little faith."

Trisha nodded again.
