Derek~

The look on Stiles’ face while everyone was speaking was what really got him. When Derek saw the pain in his eyes, he knew how wrong he had been to keep this from him. He had only wanted to keep Stiles safe, and he thought that if Stiles didn’t know anything, he couldn’t get hurt.

“Ōkami.” He spoke silently. Stiles’ eyes flashed to him, wide and confused. “It’s very rare for them to be seen around here. I haven’t heard of any sightings off of Kii Peninsula.” Derek glanced up to look at Stiles, and inhaled sharply at the look on his face. He glanced down before continuing, he couldn’t bear to look him in the eyes. “We should’ve told you before Stiles, I…”

Before he could say anything else, Stiles was backing up slowly, making his way to the door.

“Stiles..” He called out desperately, but it was too late.

Stiles had taken off, bounding through the front door.

“Stiles!” he cried again

The sun was setting over the forest in front of his house, and now with the Ōkami running around, it was even more dangerous than before. How could Stiles be so stupid to run out there unprotected?

“I’m going after him” Derek called back to the group.

“We’re coming with you” Scott said, taking a step towards him.

“No, I’ll go. You stay here in case he comes back.”

Derek ran out the door, frustrated out of his mind. If he had just told Stiles before, none of this would be happening! Small, scrawny Stiles was out there all alone, in danger, and it was all his fault!

Stiles~

He tried to remain as still as possible as to not give away how hurt he was. Derek was talking, but he couldn’t listen to him right now. The stupid wolf didn't even have the decency to look him in the eyes anyways!

Stiles had a million  thoughts running through his head. How long have they been keeping this from him? Weeks? Months? How could they talk to him every day and pretend like nothing was wrong?

He KNEW it too! He knew something was wrong when all those people kept showing up dead! They treated him like an idiot! Like he was stupid to think that there was something more behind the deaths other than what the coroner’s report said!

Stiles started to back away slowly, this was too much. He needed some time to process this.

Derek looked at him… apologetically? “Stiles..” he started to say, but before he could say anything else, Stiles turned and ran. Ran out of the door of that stupid house, out of the driveway, down endless streets, twisting and turning just trying to get away.  He wanted to run forever, but his asthma seemed to have other plans.

Stiles stopped on the side of the road, hunched over and panting. He looked over his shoulder, making sure they didn’t chase after him. When he saw the road was empty, he felt a wave of relief rush over him, but also a little twinge of hurt. He stood up slowly, pulling his inhaler from his pocket and taking a deep breath.

That’s when he heard rustling in the woods next to him.
