I kept seeing flashbacks; the fire surrounding me, coming closer and closer; the panic I felt when I inhaled its fumes and as it burned through my lungs.

I could see my village burning around me; my friends, my family everyone; I could see my home being reduced to ashes; I remembered the agony I felt when my skin cracked leaving smoking lines; I remembered everything I knew to be home, be destroyed.

We trudged through the mountains of dust silently. I glanced at Frost; jaw set; expression unreadable.

We kept walking.

Then, in a split second I heard a gut wrenching scream as Frost fell down beside me.

The pain, the agony- it was insufferable; it was like nothing I had ever experienced before, like someone had attacked me with fire

The pain, the agony- it was insufferable; it was like nothing I had ever experienced before, like someone had attacked me with fire.

After I Changed I had become immune to the cold- but it came with a price. Every time I was near fire- I felt weak; out of my element[no pun intended].

But this?

This wasn't normal fire. It was like somebody was ripping out my innards, throwing acid on them, and them putting them back in the wrong order.

I fell to the ground and passed out.

As I saw Frost fall, my heart stopped

As I saw Frost fall, my heart stopped.

'Frost. FROST!!!' I fell to the ground beside him and took his pulse- he was alive... at least for now.

I jumped up and, out of the corner of my eye, saw some one move in the heap of ash right next to me.

I made a split second decision and put up my shield and planted my feet firmly into the ground.

Just then, a column of fire came rushing toward me.

I commanded the earth under me, with all my strength, to form a coffin around them.

Gradually the fire subsided.

The guy in front of me looked about fourteen, with dark brown skin, and hair and eyes the color of earth.

'Who are you and what did you do with Frost?!' he demanded of me.

'I-I don't know okay? I don't know.' I started to sob.

His expression softened and the cage of earth around me crumbled. He started toward me.

I was just about to sizzle him to bits when suddenly I was blasted back by a blast of cold air and snow.

On top of all the events of before, this was too much for my body to handle- I slowly drifted to sleep.
