Hello! Quick authors note. So most of this chapter will be a flashback, but there will be some from the present time. You also get a full chapter from Logan's point of view.  Oh also I am dedicating this chapter to  @DelaneyBrenna for encouraging me to write this book! She is an amazing writer and I encourage you to read her books! She is writing a book about the original Tiger's Curse books, but they are from Ren's perspective!

Logan's pov

When Kamala sat down in Jeremy's lap I was suddenly overcome with rage, and it took all of me not to rip her away from that awful twin of mine. What does she even see in him? I mean he's not even good looking. You do realize you just called yourself ugly, right? I heard Durga say. Oh... Well then I do see why she thinks he is good looking, but he has a horrible personality. Don't worry, Kamala will come around. You just need to show her that you are a true person." Okay, if you say so.. "So? Are you going to explain all of this to us?" Kishan said sounding.. Excited? "Yes, sorry. Um Logan do you mind telling them? I still don't really understand it." I hear my sweet sweet Kamala say. "Yeah, sure." I nod.

                                                                                                                                                                    Flashback

"Logan, you need to get up!" I hear my mom yell up to me. "I'm up!" I yell back. I grab my khakis, and a red and blue striped shirt. Then put on my favorite sneakers, grabbed my back-pack and ran downstairs. I see my dad sitting at the table reading a newspaper like always, and mom is making breakfast. "Hey Logan, are you excited for the field trip?" I hear mom say. "I'm really excited actually!" I tell her being completely honest. For some weird reason I got really interested in this. "Ben? Honey? Don't you want to wish Logan good luck on his field trip?" Mom asks dad, who still hasn't looked up. "What is this about a field trip?" He asks uninterested. I roll my eyes when he asks this. I mean oh my gosh! I've told him like a million times. "Remember we are studying God's and Goddesses. We are going on a field trip to a cave that has writing from Durga in it." I tell him. "Oh okay, sounds interesting. Have fun, learn lots." He says. "Oh, there is the bus. Bye sweetie!" She hugs me then sends me off towards the bus. "Hey guys!" I greeted my group of friends. We played and talked till we got finally got there. As we walked in there were two different tunnels. One going to the right and one going to the left. The teachers went down the right, I started to follow them, but I saw this faint glow coming from the end of the left tunnel. Right as I saw the light I felt a pull towards it and suddenly, my legs are moving me towards it. I had walked probably three feet into the tunnel when all the sudden I hear a click, I look back only to be met by a wall. I gasped, realizing I was trapped. Panic. That's what first came into my mind. My breathing started to pick up, and I felt like the walls were closing in. "Breathe Logan. You are alright." I breathe like this voice tells me to while looking around trying to find the origin of it. "Hello?" I say quietly. "Who are you?" I ask this voice. I am the one who will guide you to your destiny. Now get up and come to the light." I did as she said. I got up and started following the light. As I started walking I noticed a glow coming from behind me. I turned around to see the walls had patterns on them that I hadn't seen before. I walked over to one and touched it, and it immediately started glowing then it was like the glowing just traveled along the patterns in a light blue glow. It was quite beautiful. I walked towards the light again, and when I finally reached it I saw that it was a lamp. Like those lamps that have a small flame in them, except this flame was a bright blue. I looked around trying to find some kind of a clue as to how, I was supposed to find this voice. I saw a small card, I opened it and read the following, "Dear Logan Strayer, you have much to learn and in time you will, but all you need to know for now is the fact that you are a guardian. A guardian of souls, dreams, and love. You must revive that guardian within you before the voice and glow will come out and show you the answers you seek, and the things you must learn. Remember these words, one must dream before one can achieve. I wish you well in this journey, you all call life. Remember those words for they are important. After I read the letter, I wasn't sure what to do so I just sat down and thought about it. Have I lost a dream or something? Oh wait.. There is one. I used to have a dream of being just like my dad when I was little. Then I realized what a disappointment he was. So I lost that dream. Why would I want to revive it? Maybe he's not your father, a small voice says. So maybe I am supposed to be like my father, but my birth father, not my "father." Suddenly I felt my heart swell slightly and all the sudden the lantern started to rattle, and the glow became brighter until it burst out of the lamp and formed into the shape of a beautiful woman. She looked really familiar.. I gasped as I remembered who it was. It was the goddess Durga. "Hello Logan." Durga says smiling at me brightly. "Hello.." I say a little breathlessly. "So I'm guessing you read the note?" "Yes, so I am a, a guardian??" I ask her still feeling very confused. "Yes, now let me tell you a story of some past guardians, who didn't even know they were guardians."  "There was a man named Mr. Kadam, who was one of the greatest guardians of all time. He helped my heroes, survive their journey and he also guided them into their love for each other.." "What were their names? The fighters I mean." I asked her "Their names were Kelsey, and Ren." "Ren had become cursed with being a tiger, and Kelsey was destined to save him, and they were both destined to save me." "Wow, that is amazing. Are they still alive?" She chuckles when I ask her this. "Yes, they are actually. They have a daughter and son around your age." "Really? I hope I meet them someday.." I say more to myself than to Durga. "Actually Logan, that is why you and I are here, together right now. Remember what I said about being a guardian?" I nod. "Well you are meant to be their daughters guardian." She tells me. "What?" I gasp. "How could I be her guardian? I'm just Logan Strayer." I tell her honestly. "You may think that now, but you will be the person that helps her make a very important decision." She tells me. "Now for you to understand everything, you must let a part of me enter your mind. I will be there for you at all times, as long as you allow me of course." "Um okay?" I tell her, but it ended up sounding more like a question. My thirteen year old mind just couldn't comprehend all of this at once. "Okay, now repeat after me. I shall allow the Goddess Durga to enter my mind. She will help me in hopeless times, and keep me alive when death comes." I repeated everything she said, and all the sudden all the glowing stopped, and the room went dark. As suddenly as it went out, it came back on and started pulsing. It became so fast and everything was shaking. Durga's glow became brighter, and brighter until I couldn't look at her anymore and had to shield my eyes. "Okay Logan. I will enter your mind now."  I nodded at her signaling I was ready. Then I felt this tightness in my head, it became worse until I was screaming in pain and it felt like my head would explode any moment. Then it abruptly stopped, and I suddenly knew everything and nothing at the same moment. A picture of a girl around my age came into my mind. She has long curly brown hair, bright ocean blue eyes, and creamy skin that looks so soft. 'That is Kamala, Logan. The girl that you a guarding." I hear Durga's voice say. "You should know another thing, but I think it will be more fun to have you realize it." She says. Suddenly the wall that had been behind Durga opened and I saw this girl, Kamala in the yard playing with a boy slightly older than me. "That is Kishan, her older brother." Durga tells me. I step through the door, and hid behind some bushes. Kamala turned towards the bushes and I finally saw her. I felt my heart flutter at the sight of her. "You are her protector, but you are also meant to be with her. You are soul mates." Durga tells me. "Whether she chooses to be with you or not, will depend on how you treat her." Then and there I vowed to myself that I would always protect her and treat her with respect.

                                                                                                                                                End of flashback

"So wait. Durga is inside your head?" Kelsey asks me, sounding very confused. "And Mr.Kadam was our guardian and he never even knew?" Ren asks. "Yes, to both of those questions." I tell them. "Kamala do you understand more of it now?" I turn towards Kamala, hoping she will have accepted me. "Um, yes, I think I understand it much better." She responds, but she never looks straight at me. "Well I for one am extremely tired, so I think we should all go to bed, and talk about it more in the morning." I hear Kishan say. " I agree." Everyone says in perfect unison. We all looked at each other with wide eyes before getting up and going to our rooms. "You coming?" I hear that annoying Jeremy ask Kamala. "Yeah in just a minute." She responds. She looks at me and then walks into the kitchen, I assume wanting me to follow so I do of course. I follow her into the kitchen and see her leaning on her hands facing the sink. "Kamala, look at me." I tell her. She slowly turns towards me, but still doesn't look me in the eyes. "Why are you acting scared of me?" I ask her. "I'm not scared of you, Logan, I'm scared of what you're doing to me." She responds quietly. "What do you mean?" I ask her feeling my hopes rise at her words. "What I mean is that I, I, oh nevermind. Goodnight Logan." She tells me. As she starts to walk by me, I grab her arm , feeling the sparks as we touch, and spin her around so she's facing me. Her eyes widen when she realizes how close we are to each other. I gently caress her soft cheek, and lean in slowly. Her breathing hitches when she realizes what we're fixing to do, but to my surprise she doesn't pull away. Then she does something that really surprises me. She leans in and lips meet. It's like there are fireworks going off. I pull her closer to me and, I feel her run her hands through my hair. I have to keep myself from shivering at how good it feels. Then we pull apart, and I look into her eyes, grin at her knowing she has feelings for me. "Goodnight, Kamala." I tell her as I brush the stray hair away from her eyes. Then give her a quick peck on the lips, wink at her and go to my room.
