"JoVaughn Virginie Scott come here," Joey hit his blunt one more time slightly coughing before tossing it. He climbed back into his window from the fire escape then went to his mom's room. He examined her smooth face to see if any anger was evident before he spoke.

"Yes mom," Joey said taking his bucket hat off to pick his thick afro. She disappeared to her bathroom then reappeared with a half smoked blunt. She kissed her teeth inhaling a sharp breath before tossing it to Joey.

"Mr. Washington said that every morning around 11 he finds these outside his fire escape," a little blunt was in her hand. She tossed it to him then gave him a look.

"Ok," Joey said stuffing it in his pocket.

"You are suppose to be at summer school at 8 and Im gone off to work at 6 so who is it," she shifted her weight to her right side. Joey shrugged not wanting to argue with her today, he put his hat back on after which he left without a word.

Joey walked into the cold Brooklyn air without a jacket. He saw no point in wearing a jacket because no matter how warm it was he was always cold. Doctors said it was maybe the lack of water and milk but he was just cold with no emotion present. Walking down the street, he saw the new girl in the building talking to Kwon and Dyemond. He looked at her friend all on Dyemond while Kwon was trying to run game on her by the dismay on her face showed it wasn't work. Kwon looked up to see Joey with a grin on his face.

"Yo whats up fam," Kwon said turning his attention away from old girl. He nudged Dyemond which made him look up. Dye gave Joey a nod while Kwon dapped him up.

"So what are you getting into today," Kwon asked not to anyone in particular. He looked at the girl giving her a smile more like a grin. She gave him a smile before rolling  her eyes.

"Well I have to go to the library to fill out this application," the girl adjusted her braids out of her face. Joey looked at her tan skin which made him questioned what was her name.

"Hi Im Joey," he said with a flat tone. She nodded while she looked past him again. Shrugging her off, him and Kwon where talking about their upcoming show.

"Man I'm telling you all the hoes finna be there," Kwon said about to dap up Joey. The girl that he was talking prior was shocked and so was Joey because he didn't fully perform for the girls but for the success that came with it.

"You sexist piece of crap. I cant believe you would say that in front of us girls," she looked at her friend for backup but all she did was wave her off and went back to flirting with Dye," You know what fuck it im going to the library."

They all watched as the New York fog swallowed her whole. Joey despite the uneasy feeling he had he followed her for a few blocks until he called for her with a simple "Aye" he hated the phrase "Aye" he found it disrespectful. He liked to refer to people by their name not a non meaningful word like "Aye".

"What," she said making a swift 180 almost stepping on his new sneaks. Which made Joey feel infuriated. He shrugged as he kept walking down the crowded street with the girl shortly behind him.

"My Name Is Cassandra but call me Cassie," she extended her free hand which he declined to shake.

"Im new to Brooklyn," she said which gained his full attention. He loved to hear about other places outside of Brooklyn for some reason. Joey felt like Brooklyn was an island that no one seemed to get off of. For a long time he thought that too; due to the big population.

"Where are you from," he grabbed the blunt he stole from his mom earlier out of his pocket, stared at it before lighting it.

"Cali," she said with an accent that Joey couldn't quite put a finger on it. He nodded wanting for her to tell him about the warm skies as well as all the celebrities around.
