When people ask you 'how are you' they don't want a real answer, they want you to tell them how fine you are so they can stop caring. It has always been this way and it won't change. This is just a fucked up world we are living in. People are selfish and only do whatever they feel like doing no matter who will be hurt in the process. His father is the living proof of it. He convinced him plenty of times that things would get better and that they will work things out, but at the end he will never do this. He only does these things to make sure that he will win this stupid election. Even mom wants him to win this election even though he cheated on her, multiple times. There is no way Miles will make it easy for his dad. No one could force him to act like the good guy anyway. He wasn't like sweet little Frankie or Hunter who always kept his mouth shut and simply hides in his room with his stupid games. No, he was Miles David Hollingsworth the third and that meant something. For most people it meant trouble and you know what? They were right. It was maybe his only way to get his father's attention, not that he would admit it. God the idea of admitting something like this would probably be the worst thing ever.

This morning Miles was eating outside the house. It was a normal day for most people but not for Miles. He had to go to Paris along with everyone else from Degrassi Community school. Not because he wanted it but because his father thought it would be best if Miles stayed away from the election as much as possible. "Miles did you pick everything?" His mother asked him. She took a seat on one of the chairs. Miles nodded a little, not looking up. "Yeah, kinda." He simple answered. The two had a fight last night and it didn't end nice, especially not after his father found out. "I'm sorry about last night." The older woman started. "It's just the pressure of the election and other stuff." Miles dramatically rolled with his eyes when his mother started about the stupid election. "Yeah whatever, I have to go to school before I miss the plane to Paris." He stood up and before he walked back inside the house he turned to his mother one last time. "Everyone always blames the stupid election, maybe you should think of another excuse. It's getting predictable." At that moment the doorbell rang. It could only be one person, Winston Chu who was Miles best friend since they were five years old. The two boys got a lift to the school, yet none of them started a conversation. It was mostly like this when either boy was 'forced' to do something they weren't really into.

Before the two walked to the bus, Miles decided it was time to apologise to Winston. His best friend was always the one who got involved in the Hollingsworth drama and it wasn't fair. Maybe this time it could turn out fun cause after all they would go to Paris. "Don't worry, this time it will be fun." Miles told his friend. The two went inside the bus and took a seat on one of the many benches. "Yeah right, with new people we don't even know." Winston answered. "New people means new opportunities, it means new girls." Miles explained, while he looked around. He had to do something big, something that would drag the attention. He had to make sure that his father would hear from him, even when he was in Paris. The only problem was that no one could think that he was actually trying to get his father's attention. It had to look like a typical Miles Hollingsworth action. "Miles promise me it will be just the two of us hanging around." The two locked eyes with each other for a few seconds. "Of course, no problem." He answered. At that moment Maya looked over her shoulder. She saw both Miles and Winston sitting in the bus, which made her frown a little. "No way, what the hell are you two doing here?" The girl asked, probably scared that the two boys would screw up Paris for her. "Well Miles' father wanted us to meet our classmates properly and this was a perfect way." Winston answered, a little unsure if he should bring it like this. Normally he would tell the entire truth but Miles wouldn't want that. "Unbelievable... If you two even think of screwing.." Maya started, yet Tristan interrupted her. "Maya chill, don't let these losers get to you." He told her, placing a comforting hand on her arm. "Let's just enjoy Paris together, as promised." Right after Tristan finished his sentence, he locked eyes with Miles for barely a second. Miles gave him a wink before he got his attention back to Winston. Miles noticed the blush on Tristan's face. Paris might be interesting after all.
