2. hospitals and hellos

Annie's POV
The car ride to the hospital I sat in shock. Not knowing what's real, and what's already happened. Today keeps colliding with the day Hayley passed. Ms Jill parks right in front of the hospital.
"Brennan I'm gonna find a place to park take the girls to Ms. Katie." He nodded. Katie and him started walking inside. I froze in my tracks. He grabbed my hand.
"Uhm. Hi. Can you tell me what room Caleb Logan Leblanc is in."
"Go upstairs to waiting room A." She replies. I let go of Brennans hand and run up the stairs. I don't have the patience for elevators. Waiting room A. Ding ding. I walk up to a nurse. Katie and Brennan soon behind me.
"Where is my brother. Caleb Leblanc." I stutter. Katie puts her hand on my shoulder to calm me down.
"Please wait here." That's what they say when your sibling could be dead...
I sit and bury my face in my hands. Brennans arm wraps around me.
"Its my fault. I shouldn't have left him. I shouldn't have asked him to come to gym. He should be home right now asleep. And I should be at gym breaking my back so I have a reason for Bubba to be proud of me." I sob. My phone rings.

I answer.
"Hey Annie. Wait why aren't you at gym. Are you crying. Why isn't Caleb answering his phone. What happened." She starts panicking.
"Brooke there's been an accident." I whisper.
"We'll be right there." She says frantically. Ms. Jill comes into the waiting room.
"Katie will you come with me." She says. Katie slowly gets up and follows Ms. Jill.
"You should eat." He says. "Did you eat this morning?" I shake my head.
"Okay I'll be right back. I'm gonna find you the best hospital food in Maryland." He says. I stifle laugh. Why does daddy have to be deported? I need him right now. I look up and see two people walk into the waiting room. I run over to them.
"Annie!" Brooke says. I hug her tightly. She's shaking.
"What happened?" I can tell she's been crying. Brooke and Caleb have been dating for two years.
"We had to park across the street from the gym. And he was bringing over a box for my mom. And the next thing I know I hear sirens and the box is scattered across the cross walk." I stutter. A doctor comes back out.
"Family of Caleb Leblanc?" She says.
"That's me." I say. We walk over to her. I start shaking in anticipation. Rush grabs my hand.
"Your mother is with Caleb we tried contacting your father but we couldn't get through." She asks.
"Yeah he's deployed. How is my brother?!"
"He hasn't woken up yet. From the ex rays we can see he has cracked ribs. A broken leg. And we're waiting for his heart scan, it's beating irregularly." Her words drown my thoughts. Beating irregularly. I start shaking more. That's what they said about hayley. H-hay. Hayl-ley. Is it possible to stutter in your mind? I become dizzy. I fall to the ground. A pair of muscular arms catch me. It wasn't Rush? I look up to see a familiar face. But I don't know from where. I get lost in his eyes.
"Falling for me?" He jokes. I laugh. He helps me up.
"I'm Hayden." He says.
"Annie. Wait have we met before?" I say confused.
"I think I'd remember a beautiful face like yours." I blush.
"Do you hit on girls in hospitals often?" I tease.
"No. My brothers in surgery." He says weakly.
"Oh. I'm sorry. My brother just got hit by a car." I reply in the same tone. It becomes real as I say it.
"I'm sorry." He notices my thumbie.
"Double sorry. Wait that's how I know you." He says abruptly.
"Your Annie LeBlanc friends with Kenzie Ziegler right?" He pulls out his phone. His lock screen was him and Kenzie.
"Yeah your the best friend?" I reply with a smile.
"Nice to meet ya." I smile and sit with Brooke and rush. He grabs my hand.
"He's gonna be okay Anns" he tries cheering me up.
"Than where's Hayley huh? That's what you say when your hiding from the truth." I snap and walk out.
